Since there are many dog lovers posting pictures with 'pet dogs' let
me tell you what happens after a stray dog bites you.
1. You need to be rushed to the closest hospital, while you are bleeding.
2.God forbid if you are bit late in the evening, it will be hell for you, the route to the hospital is torturous.
3. You need to keep on washing your wound for atleast 20 minutes while your blood is oozing, this can be tricky if the hospital is not close by.
4. If you go to a private hospital, you will pay 10,000/- for the serum to begin, this is both expensive & painful, very painful as the injections are applied into the open wounds.
5. If you go to a govt hospital, then this serum is free of cost but you will have to wait for the doctor to turn up, in case the dog bite is severe there are chances of massive bleeding.
6. After the serum, depending on the degree of dog bite, you will be given subsequent injections which again are not cheap & MUST be taken on the said date otherwise the threat of RABIES is real.
7. The wound needs to be left open, now imagine going back with an open wound with some blood still oozing.
8. The most vulnerable are babies & elderly
9. There is NO CURE for rabies, it is FATAL.
Also, let me add more often than not, these dogs bite without any provocation.
When I first saw Washi's batting on Gabba , I instantly felt he is perfect No.3 batsman. Watching him again today, I’m convinced – if we make him a permanent No.3, we’ve found the true successor to Dravid and Pujara.
