#engl407socialmedia is really making me think about how many filters cover our everyday lives, and how they effect our reality. Even our data is skewed and biased, so how can we completely trust anything we see online?
While digital learning and online school may not be my favourite thing, starting my lectures for the week at 7pm while sitting in bed is a pretty good perk #engl407socialmedia
If @shoshanazuboff's "The Age of Surveillance Capitalism" has taught me anything this week, it's that everything is a product in the eyes of surveillance capitalism (including my own course readings for #engl407socialmedia).
Learning about audiences and publics has made me realize just how many people a tweet can reach (even from a small account like mine). I wonder how many publics this very tweet will end up being seen by? #english407socialmedia#publics
Learning how to engage and use social media is a skill that has become increasingly important in today's society. Expanding one's knowledge of social media phenomenona is vital in staying relevant to mainstream society. #Engl407SocialMedia
@EhrgU This Baywatch run seems to be trying to make people feel part of something fun, and even if it is stupid, I bet it got people talking about it #engl301
@EhrgU Plain language is the easiest form of communication between everyone, and saying that it is too simple defeats the entire purpose of readability and communication.
@EhrgU I think most of us have experienced a boss being able to say whatever they want and you just have to sit there, so I'm saying that's 100% true! #engl301
It's more complicated than that, but basically, some say that bosses have more leeway than employees do when they're speaking or writing: they can get away with more swearing, for example.
Or can they? #badboss#engl301

Using compassion when listening or dealing with anything in the workplace is the way to go. Even just looking at workplace conflict, situations are much more easily resolved if everyone tries to understand one another. #engl301
Presentations blow up so often that there's a whole genre of rehab & recovery articles. Should we just assume they'll be disastrous? What strategies might we emphasize if we did that, and is there room for compassion in the workplace? #engl301 https://t.co/BVhGyY7exKโฆ
