UW college student focused on environmental issues and policies. Centered at @UWEnvironment and @uwpoe, I look forward to working towards a #sustainable future
I'm not sure when any of these current situations will, if ever, improve, but the extensions and support @uwpoe have given myself and fellow #ENVIR492 students has been extraordinarily helpful
@AlexpeckUW For an application I had to write in the graduation date, and it was the 11th. I could've sworn I had another half month or so, but no π
My #POEcap partner @Sam_Warkentin2 covered breakout room 9 very well with his live tweets, make sure to check them out #envir492. Besides the small hiccups here and there, I think the symposium was pretty good, and I didn't see any security issues either.
Well, today's the day for the #POEcap symposium. My cats are finally asleep, and there's no sirens currently in the neighborhood. I just might be in the clear #envir492
@mollllythompson I'm gonna spend an hour before hand making sure my green screen has good lighting with no wrinkles, and then the last 10 minutes remembering that I have to wear something nice and put on the first button-up that I find
It'll be interesting how the #POEcap symposium will play out, in terms of the guest spread. Since you can't see a poster across the room that might interest you, I could see a lot of people hopping from one room to another, leaving the hosts with a lot of free time #envir492
Jumping in on the #POEcap and #Envir492 tweets, This 27th is the one and only chance to see the Live, first of it's kind, #VirtualEvents extraordinaire @UWEnvironment symposium!
@JulieTolmie That sounds interesting, a shame it's right after the symposium. Quick question for you Julie, have you done any research into the effects wildfire smoke has?
Bummed that due to the hiring freeze, I won't be able to pursue state agencies right after I graduate. But after a while, I'd love to work for the @waDNR_fire, as this internship has shown me all the different things a @uwpoe student can do. https://t.co/0SNdF34psa #Envir492
While I'm sad about missing out on all the great meetings and in-person networking I would've done, I am happy that I can still attend a @forestservice webinar that my supervisor from @waDNR_fire recommended. #envir492#POEcap
@mollllythompson I've been making myself do an hour a day on it. I also have to put myself in a similar mindset that I did when I was getting my daily internship hours
@NicoleErrett, do you know how long people 'retain' information that they end up voting with? I read one paper that said about 2 months, but the study only had to do with the effect media had on public opinion. #envir492#POEcap
@JessicaG253 If you're able to, I've also been giving parts of my presentation and write-up to my site supervisor, partly to fact check, but also to make sure it looks 'professional'
One thing I'm curious about is behavior relating to different parts of wildfire. @TBuschIsaksen, do you know if people's perception of wildfire risk changes with different levels of smoke/air quality, of similar wildfire intensities?
@ConorC_POE Recently I've had some blocks of relaxing time cut short by local Wifi outages. And one of the only things I can do offline is use Excel for data analysisπ
@MelindaSkipwor1 Some of the good visualizations I've found is by using word clouds (less so for interviews) and by coding the responses into themes and graphing the themes by amount of respondents. For coding, a book I was reccomended and have used is https://t.co/rSgzAQdows
