@SheriffCHuxley He smiles.
"Mature and my name don't usually enter the same sentence... Lux was joking I map out /all/ of the best pastry shops. Or just map out food places in general."
He gives a sort of snort, before sitting back down.
"There's so much I don't feel ready for...."
It took a while to get there. Mostly after a night of expedition and guild final paper work and dissertation preparation.
The significantly more mellowed out Ezreal knocks on the door of one @SheriffCHuxley .
@SheriffCHuxley "Three years..."
There's a sort of forlornness in his voice. As if time was finally becoming a tangible concept to him. Of course it wasn't onset in that moment, but...
"... Three years I go and not know anything about the world I'm trying to map."
@SheriffCHuxley He blinks. Yes. Definitely didn't remember him. He'll need to get better at that...
"Oh! Congratulations. Is that a... more recent thing?"
@SheriffCHuxley "Babysitting practice..? Did someone else get a kid? I've been ACTUALLY gone for too long this time..."
Hands on his hips as he thinks.
"Jayce...? Officer Randall? Wait. Don't tell me." He begins pacing back and forth trying to remember the names of people NOT in the past.
@SheriffCHuxley He runs a hand through his hair, barely convinced he said that out loud to someone.
Then, a gentle gesture, he leans forward into light embrace. He doesn't really remember her feeling that small.
"Thanks." He mumbles into her shoulder. "I think... even this is enough."
@SheriffCHuxley He breaks it first.
"Lux and I are thinkin'... of havin' a kid." A small feeler. The first time he's talked about it aloud to something not made of stone. "That's... why I took the tenure. Didn't wanna be... out exploring like my folks were when I was young. I want to be here."
@SheriffCHuxley Ezreal smiles like a boy who just convinced his mother to let him keep a stray animal.
"Understood!"
The sprite looks back and forth, like it doesn't understand but recognizes people are speaking.
He leaves the items on the table and sighs, contented to be somewhere like home
@SheriffCHuxley "Aw come on Cait! They'll put that little guy in a wooden crate in some warehouse with a BUNCH of other wooden crates to be lost forever!"
@SheriffCHuxley He groans lightly. The paperwork piles up and continues and he knows this is his slap on the wrist for absconding with a potentially dangerous element. A lot of times, that's what people said about his findings.
dangerous. unpredictable. must be locked away. -
@SheriffCHuxley There's a gesture to indicate total size and it's no bigger than a football. With that, the swirling fire inside the gem spins into a ball, with two little eyes that seem to gaze up at Caitlyn.
It waves.
@SheriffCHuxley He gives a thoughtful 'hum'.
"I thiiiink you might have a future in archeology Cait. Y'know, archeology sociology and criminology kind of all go hand in hand! It's BASICALLY detective work yyou might li- yeah there's a fire sprite in there. But they're actually soooo tiny!"-
@SheriffCHuxley "The people believed in fire as the natural healing element. Warmth promotes relaxation of muscles and tendons. Helps stimulate blood flow. Releases tension... It's kind of an everyday item there. A healing gem for their fighters, usually. Does absolute WONDERS for migraines."
@SheriffCHuxley He remembers Qiyana's elemental rage, as he ran from the bed chambers, it was quite an escape. One for the annals of pseudo fiction.
He coughs into a fist as he remembers where the story was leading towards, straightening up. He could feel his wife's kind angry smile.-
@SheriffCHuxley "Okay so, this last one I admittedly /didn't/ excavate. That one I accidentally stole. I actually mean it was an accident and I had to keep running."
@SheriffCHuxley A hair comb of similar material, a signet brooch of swirling intricate circle designs, with jewels of ruby, saphire , and emerald which seemed more modern in comparison, annnddd something for Vi... A stone that seemed to have a swirling living fire inside of it.-
@SheriffCHuxley With that, Ezreal pulls a string to release the cloth covering from one of the artifacts on the table.
An impossibly made teapot. Not quite jewels, not quite glass, green transparent, and ornate in design.
"Ta-daaa." He says in a sort of amused deadpan.
@SheriffCHuxley quantify what you could do in your life.
"I think I get that now Cait, planting trees whose shade you'll never sit under. Something like that. Think you told me about that once."
