Ladies and Gentlemen, Welcome to the African Derby😂
Yeah man basketball clout actually can’t compare to football clout.
What do you mean some 40 year old Cape Verde goalkeeper gained the same amount of followers after a 0-0 as basketball’s current biggest star.
Cape Verde goalkeeper's life has changed forever.
50K to 6.2M in 24H is insane motion.
The kind of deals he's going to sign in the next 12 months - goodness gracious.
Funny thing is,
His life changing led to the ruin of many transatlantic team-based investors in Nigeria. 😹
Names. What a concept!
If you take a look at the Cape Verde squad sheet, you would find names like Lopes, Vozinha, Mendes, Tavares,Semedo and so on. Those look like Brazilian names right? They are actually Portuguese names.
Let me tell you something.
Cape Verde is a cluster of ten islands in the Atlantic, off the coast of Senegal. Nobody lived there until 1462, when Portuguese settlers arrived and founded the first permanent European settlement in the tropics. From that moment, the islands belonged to the Portuguese Empire, and they stayed that way for more than 500 years.
And that is the connection most people miss. Cape Verde and Brazil are not similar by coincidence. They were both Portuguese colonies. Brazil was colonised by Portugal. Cape Verde was also colonised by Portugal.
So when you Cape Verdean is called Lopes or Tavares or Semedo, you should understand that it is the exact same colonial fingerprint that gave Brazil its Silvas and its Santos and Brazilians are not more Santos than Cape Verdeans.
Names carry history. You just have to know how to read them.

This might be the CRAZIEST stat of the World Cup...
Cape Verde had more possession against Spain than Arsenal did against PSG in the Champions League final. 🤯🇨🇻
When the tournament was 32, Germany won 8-0 against Saudi Arabia in 2002.
When the tournament was 24, Hungary beat El Salvador 10-1 in 1982.
Opening it up is an opportunity for smaller footballing nations like Ghana, Curacao, Cape Verde, South Africa and their fans to experience the world cup. Nigeria even sacrificed their spot for DR Congo.
🚨 Paul Pogba on if Manchester United can win the Premier League under Carrick: “𝐘𝐞𝐬. I think in the next years they will be champion.
“If Arsenal can be champion Manchester United will 𝐃𝐄𝐅𝐈𝐍𝐈𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐘 be champion. No disrespect.”

This is why it’s vey good to host the World Cup in economically viable nations. See the massive stadiums in the US and see the crowd ? No matter who is playing you see a good turnout.
After Cabo Verde’s draw with Spain, goalkeeper Vozinha has now reached 5.7m Instagram followers from 50k before the game, with the figure continuing to increase! 🤩📈
