@Thomas2Servant@Thatbrian Incorrect. It does not bear the name of the religion. Other way around. Read again what I wrote. The book’s title means “the book compiled by the man named Mormon”. The nickname “Mormons” came from others because of the book’s title.
@TribeRuffner@CluffK Nope, but totally understand the confusion. The Book of Mormon makes a distinction between the two groups. Check out 1 Nephi 12:7-10. The Nephite 12 disciples are the “others”, judged by the 12 Old World apostles. The 12 disciples then judge the Nephite and Lamanite peoples.
@bryce_tatroe@DOGEaKAT@Thatbrian Feels like we’re grasping at straws here a bit. The book was originally published as “The Book of Mormon”. The subtitle was added to further clarify its purpose.
@vasallo_pedro Not a fan of Biden, but this seems misleading. Inflation rate from monetary policy is a lagging indicator - because of the economy’s complexity, it takes a year or more to see the effects of inflation. The inflation at the start of Biden is a result of COVID policy a year prior.
@SewageCrow Haha common question. It actually comes from the name of a character from the book, "Mormon". In LDS theology, Mormon was the one who wrote the book, hence, "The Book of Mormon". People just started calling us "Mormons" because of the name of the book of scripture.
@lauretiee@bguitron25 Although the principle of "murder = bad" is found in religion, that does not mean it's a religious principle. "Murder = bad" is common sense, and needs no religion to back it up.
@only_semi_lost @NelsonRussellM We are! It's something we have all been invited to do by our prophet. So sure, some may choose not to, but that's their choice. We all have agency; Christ told us to come and follow Him - he's not going to force us to do anything.
