As we enjoy the beginning of DeFi on Cardano and anticipate the 1st ADA DeFi bull cycle, it's crucial to remember that this spotlight also attracts hackers and scammers.

Your vigilance is more important now than ever.

Here's what you need to know:

1. The Tangent Protocol Incident: Recently, Tangent faced a significant hack that affected various pools including $TANG + ADA LP and others. Fortunately, the Tangent team acted swiftly, halting the attack and even identifying the hacker. They're in cooperation with authorities and have been pretty transparent and communicative through the process. It's a stark reminder that any platform can face threats.

2. The Mercury Scheme: This wasn't a hack but a clever maneuver of manipulation. Scammers used a transaction builder to trick users into giving away permissions to access their assets. It's a sophisticated form of deception, highlighting the absolute need for careful examination of your transactions. When you sign a transaction, be very careful and know what you are signing!

Stay Alert: Your awareness, patience, and caution are your best defenses. Cardano dapps are becoming easier and easier to use and it's very simple to forget to be careful.

Take your time!

Always scrutinize transactions, stay updated with official communications from different projects and platforms, and remember, if something seems too good to be true, it probably is.

This is an exciting new phase in the Cardano ecosystem, but with that comes more responsibility!
