@teacake90s@IonaItalia Im not trying to create anything, but it is pivotal to her whole point of view that she she's Hamas and Gazan civilians as on the same side, when theyre absolutely not. It is not "suicide-by-cop" or suicide at all if the people that are dying are not aligned with you.
personally i am not really impressed when a computer is good at math — since a computer is math . i am a lot more intrigued by things like , for example , a rat being an exceptional cook — since that’s not really expected
@Imaginaryperso_@clairlemon@JEChalmers There aren't different sets of data - even the original poster/article is using this data source. I took issue with which data they presented, and how they did so, but not the data itself. The data doesn't "present positive", it is just a factual release of figures!
@Imaginaryperso_@clairlemon@JEChalmers I'm afraid thats incorrect, the tax increase came in in October 2024, there wasn't much of a spike before then, and the large increase I'm talking about happened afterwards!
Always good to look at the data and make an informed decision than to rely on generic AI answers!
@BellaWallerstei@thetimes Farcical. They have used calendar years for those figures, and do not consider the time delay of receiving the tax in the financial year after the gain.
CGT receipts for 2025/26 are £24bn!!!
@MJBiercuk What makes you say that about the UK? Expected CGT income this year is considerably higher under the new, higher rates than the previous ones
@GrayConnolly@clairlemon@JEChalmers Nonsense - savings income isn't the original capital, it is new income generated from investing the savings.
Likewise for any other investing, the original capital does not get taxed, its called capital GAINS tax for a reason
@clairlemon@JEChalmers Fairly basic economics is why: the higher risk involved with investing in capital is reflected in higher gains. Tax policy is then how you treat that income. Also there are policies like loss c/fwds that advantage an investor over a worker, so could argue they get a better deal
