@kjxoxo @LizLevy38547430 @ATXProgressive@mmurraypolitics@aseitzwald The problem with Sanders (and his followers) is that he wants the effects of policies of social democratic countries without the foundation of what makes them successful. For example: labor force participation rate. It’s close to 90% in Sweden compared to barely 60% in the US.
Hey everyone, March For Our Lives does not endorse candidates, we’re non-partisan and non-candidate. We didn’t endorse @BernieSanders or any candidate for that matter. We’ll continue to hold EVERY candidate accountable for their gun violence prevention plan.
@firasd@brianstelter And then there’s outsourcing which for me is the main reason income mobility stopped in the US. In the past you might’ve been a janitor but you worked for an enterprise, you could access all perks and it was stable. Now you work for a third company and there’s no security at all.
@firasd@brianstelter Cutlery might be from China but furniture is either local or from SLIGHTLY cheaper EU countries (kinda like beds sold in California coming from Idaho). Europe went through offshoring as well but significant chunks of industry remain there. In the US, there’s nothing left.
@dukeoftheweald @mackayleiah @forihave5inned@nytimes What does it matter they were in one country with Slovakia? They were together since 1920s. Also, they’ve split in 1993. And “socialism with human face” was more of a political idea rather than an economic one.
@SandwichofFarts @mackayleiah @forihave5inned@nytimes Cuba is a small island with no significant importance. USSR was a major power that controlled 1/4 of the world.
@dukeoftheweald @mackayleiah @forihave5inned@nytimes Think about it as an ad campaign. When you see an ad of Tide you don’t rush to the store to buy it. But when you are in the store choosing between Tide and it’s competitors you’re more likely to chose what you saw in the ad.
@dukeoftheweald @mackayleiah @forihave5inned@nytimes That’s what Americans don’t understand. It’s not like the aim of propaganda is to change your mind in an instant. It’s a carefully plotted process. The fact that there are western leftists who glorify USSR shows how powerful and successful it was.
