I couldn't resist. When China creates hospitals run by robots, in the UK teachers were called back to the schools to take care of key workers' children. How would it look like if instead of teachers, the schools had robots?? #mscedc
@SeanFlower3 If we could use online games to teach, all the children would be in front of their computers on time, the parents wouldn't be stressed of how they can help their kids with their learning and we could finally be able to teach!! #mscedc
After 3 days of countless boxes, suitcases and..... stairs!!!! bruised and exhausted...... I made it!! a tough time belongs to the past and I am a step closer to the rest of my happy life!! #newflat#newlife#thinkpositive
@harMonica1 But I definitely agree that during these times a pack with activities and resources is so useful for all the parents who stayed home with their kids. #mscedc
@harMonica1 Just out of curiosity I checked my pinterest account to see if there is any recommendation about the COVID-19 but there was nothing. Only the normal school activities recommendations appeared, so probably it has to do with your algorithmic game. #mscedc
@Crouchipuss That's very true! They created a general platform but probably using algorithms they focused on what the majority of people were searching. We can presume that in a particular time, a particular group was using Pinterest and that's how it ended up with limited resources.
@Crouchipuss I haven't used my Pinterest account for a while (probably before I started the course). I am actually intrigued to see if it will suggest anything different than my normal school stuff. #mscedc
@Crouchipuss I like Pinterest as it has a lot of school ideas (lessons, crafts, experiments). And keeps on suggesting more things when you search for something. However, if I didn't use it for school I don't think I would use it at all.
A colleague from Italy posted yesterday that schools there are closed because of the coronovirus and they are moving onto google classroom. Can a google classroom be effective? Could we potentially think to use it for children that are unable to attend school? #mscedc
@SusanneMMacleod I am not sure that I agree 100% with the article. We need to stop underestimate the children's questions, likes and interests. A child will not ask to learn more about something they already know. They will ask for things they have observed and want to explore further. #mscedc
@harMonica1 I feel the same. As new generation we are more aware of how things work in a society and we feel kind of unsettle when changes happen without being explained. We defenatelly need more info to understand how algorithms work and the impact in our lives. #mscedc
@ThomasReinhard7 The algorithms have long way to go, but seeing the fast evolution we need at least a better and more in depth information. And as Hanna Fry says:we shouldnβt think of algorithms as either good or bad, but we should be paying more attention to the people programming them#mscedc
@harMonica1 If you have already mentioned that you are a researcher don't you think that they will think that there is a purpose behind your answers?
However, it would be interesting to see how easy they would be influenced from a different opinion. #mscedc
@erin11k@ThomasReinhard7 In the classroom, we have a direct interaction with the kids and we can adapt a lesson. In a MOOC, the participants are adults who decide alone how much effort they want to put in their learning. Also, MOOCs are helpful for people who don't particularly enjoy socialising. #mscedc
@erin11k I kept my original answer and the explanation. But that was exactly one of my concerns. After my answer I saw a percentage of people who changed their minds. But for those who kept the same answer, I don't know if they changed the explanation they wrote. #mscedc
MOOC: Any help much appreciated. When I answer a question, it gives me the answers of other students, and after I read them I can change mine too. Do I take this as interaction to collect some data or is better if I focus mainly on the forum? Thanks #mscedc
