OMG PLEASE SAY IT LOUDER FOR THE PEOPLE IN THE BACK!!!
#Tuberculosis or #TB is the second leading killer in the world. It kills nearly FIVE MILLION people Every Single Year.
And it has done for Decades now. Before? It was HIGHER.

@sportswithjohn The power of the Nerdiness is Unstoppable. . . How are we doing on infiltrating the CDC to overhaul their science communication efforts? Like seriously, where are we on that?
I want to be on Threads.
I've already seen six ads, three photoshopped pictures of people with holes in them, and an add for a plant-based 'cure for cancer'.
I'm out.
@steph_teasley Nothing.
My dad had a hip replacement - stayed 26 hours
Sister-in-law had a C-Section - 62 hours
They want you in and out as fast as possible to mitigate the risks of nosocomial infections and because, honestly, you can't afford any more.
@ComplexlyMedia@TheCrashCourse Hej! I am reviewing this position on the complexly website and it is described as 'Remote - US based'. As a dual US/ Swedish citizen I tend to bounce back and forth between the two. Is this workable with the position or would I need to remain in the US while working?
@SciCommNews @vetenskapoallm That would be because Twitter is a toxic cesspool of artificial indignation and overused memes and we are all just desperately waiting for some viable form of platform to provide a mass exodus escape route 🙃
@evornithology You could always build it into the curriculum.
I make our Lab newbies use it to draft their paper skeletons, and then hand that in as well as any changes (with justifications) with the final product.
They learn how to use AI and not to rely on it.
USA: Threads is cool
Me: *silently resenting being forced to continue on this toxic BS platform because pending EU regulations don't allow threads in my country* Must be nice . . .
@hankgreen Marwas Liv's - it's a little middle eastern grocery store with the strangest collections of international foods, cheap produce with questionable shelf life and bizarrely flavored chip varieties 😋 🏪 💖
Imposter Syndrome is a Bi*ch . . . and yes, this conversation really did happen.
No matter how unqualified you think you are or how much your brain is yelling that you aren't good enough, remember -
17 - 3 is not 15

The number of people with PhD's who I have to tell, REPEATEDLY, how hashtags work ... You can sequence RNA and program in six languages... but it's the hashtages?!?
Anyone have any good resources for helping this sink in?

You know that soul crushing feeling where you collect up all your preciously generated science and try to actually do the thing? And you think 'oh yeah, this is going great!' until it's just... gone?
Yeah...
If anyone needs me I'll be crying into my bubble tea
