At a time when those on the right are trying to erase queer people from the lives of young people, Iโm so proud to see the @JonesLibraryMA offering Young Adult ๐ณ๏ธโ๐Pride๐ณ๏ธโโง๏ธ programming. NOW is the time to support LGBTQ youth.
spotted at the gym: Council President Lynn Griesemer talking to @WMassNews about the successful vote for a new elementary school. Shoutout to President Griesemer for leading the Council and the community through approval of TWO major capital projects in the past five years.
Councilor Anika Lopes recognizing that the Jones Library project allows us to honor our townโs full history while building our future. @TownOfAmherst#AmherstMA
fyi, all of these most challenged books are freely available at the @JonesLibraryMA (yes, I checked). Go check them out, read banned and challenged books, and support your local library against those who are trying to ban books.
Across the country, the American Library Association documented more than 1,200 book challenges โ a significant rise from 2021โs record-breaking 729 challenges. https://t.co/IX0q8aROzQ

Great Op-Ed by Rebecca Fricke and Meg Gage about why voting YES for a new school is so important to our community and to living up to our values. https://t.co/1EbJTIjAQU
I strongly support the proposed new Amherst elementary school & will be voting YES in the upcoming town election. Itโs a project for our children, our community and the climate.
Vote by mail has started, early voting is next week, Election Day is May 2.

Opinion: 100% affordable housing would ruin our neighborhood character, but anything less than 100% affordable housing is a handout for developers.
By Schrodinger's Zoning Appeals Board
Disappointed and frustrated that the Town Council voted against funding the badly-needed improvements to our high school track and field. A shameful vote by 6 councilors destroying years of careful work and planning on a vital public school infrastructure project.
Probably an unpopular opinion: the Merry Maple is a Norway maple, an invasive tree species that impedes recruitment of native maples & reduces diversity. I'm glad we're removing it. It should never have been allowed to live this long and shouldn't have been celebrated.
The "Merry Maple" tree in #AmherstMA is scheduled to be removed. Please join the Public Shade Tree Committee to commemorate the life of the tree this Wednesday, November 16th from 4:30- 5:30 PM on the North Town Common. More info at https://t.co/sFxDTEceXi
Looking forward to joining others at Mexcalito on Election Night to celebrate a Maura Healey victory (and have a margarita or two). All are welcome to join.
Join the ADTC to watch election results, celebrate Democratic victories, & support a local business. We will be gathering at Mexcalito around 7:30pm to watch the results come in. It is their Taco Tuesday night, featuring live music & salsa dancing. So come celebrate with us!
