Disciplined preparation at the base (cash flow, debt management and risk management) makes everything above it faster, stronger and more certain.
You don't have to be a genius to be the architect of your financial life. 🫡

Most importantly, START.
Expect it to be messy and to take longer at the start. But that's where the magic is.

So no, my portfolio construction has never been about avoiding price declines altogether. It is about having the conviction that even if prices fall, the underlying businesses remain robust, antifragile, and capable of producing strong future cash flows.
To double down on high-conviction holdings when prices decline. And to add positions in companies I have long wanted to own at more attractive valuations.
This is why I prioritise businesses with:
¬ Strong and durable moats
¬ Robust balance sheets
¬ Consistent profitability
¬ And the ability to survive and thrive through economic hardship
The difficult part is that nobody truly knows what the future holds, nor where prices will go next. This is precisely why I construct my investment portfolio to weather financial and economic storms.
What do I mean by this?
Most people focus primarily on mitigating price volatility. In finance, this is commonly referred to as “risk.”
For me, true risk is different. It is the risk that the underlying business ceases to exist, loses its competitive advantage, or permanently deteriorates.
