A couple months ago, I tweeted that I lost a friend of mine. Today, this doesn’t even compare.
A normal day, I wake up and head into work. About four hours into my shift I notice people coming out of the back crying. I then hear my name paged to come to the managers office(CONT)
Minnesota capitalizes on the 5-on-3 power play.
With Jake Neighbours in the box for tripping, Matt Boldy finds the back of the net to get the Wild on the board.

Holy hell! He caught the football WHILE running a crisp route in practice. Who is this guy and what did they shoot him up with while on the plane from ARI to HOU?
Plenty of people questioned the McTavish and McMichael deals. Six games in, they're two of the Blues' most productive forwards. The #STLBlues may have finally found their wave of secondary scoring.

After seeing @RonoAnalyst tweet highlighting Martone’s lack of ice time, it got me thinking about the state of the Eastern Conference and just how differently certain organizations are approaching their rosters.
You look at the Atlantic division, and I genuinely believe all eight teams could be playoff contenders on any given night. I wouldn’t be surprised if every single one finishes inside the top 16 of my end-of-season power rankings.
Then you look at Detroit and Philadelphia, and hand on my heart, I genuinely don’t understand what the hell either organization is trying to accomplish.
Are the Flyers just allergic to good hockey?
Is Detroit trading Dylan Larkin or not? What’s the plan with Simon Edvinsson? You can commit to DeBrincat long-term, but you can’t find common ground with one of the most promising young two-way defensemen in hockey?
And Philadelphia might be even more confusing.
You’ve got young talents like Martone and Michkov who should be central to your future, yet you’re barely giving them opportunities to make an impact. Meanwhile, you’re entertaining the idea of testing the trade market for players you’re actually trusting with significant minutes?
How does any of that make sense?
At some point, roster construction, player development and organizational direction have to align.
Right now, from the outside looking in, neither Detroit nor Philadelphia seems to have a coherent plan.
Someone, please make it make sense.

The Philadelphia Flyers are doing Martone’s development absolutely no favors.
Entering the season, Martone was a legitimate Calder Trophy contender alongside names like Stenberg, McKenna, Frondell and several others.
Now, just two weeks into the season, he’s essentially been relegated to the bench despite possessing the offensive upside to drive play in a top-six role, especially on a roster like Philadelphia’s.
To me, this raises serious questions about how the Flyers’ management and coaching staff are evaluating their roster. Their internal assessment seems completely disconnected from how the team’s talent and potential are viewed externally.
At some point, you have to wonder what the long-term vision in Philadelphia actually is.
If this continues, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Flyers tear things down, move significant pieces and build around a select few players.
The talent is there. The question is whether Philadelphia knows how to develop and utilize it.
The Blues are spreading the wealth tonight!
Suter and McTavish lead the way with 3 points each (2G, 1A), while Neighbours has 2 goals of his own.
Buchnevich has 3 assists, McMichael has 2, and Jiricek has his first NHL goal!
Berggren, Carlo, Fowler, Holloway, Johnston, Parayko and Thomas have each chipped in an assist.
Snuggerud, Peterson, Broberg, Dvorsky and Barron are the only Blues still looking for a point.
A complete team effort offensively tonight!
