A stay at home great British beer trip! We'll be logging the route and other stuff, but it's all about the beer which we'll sample from every brewery we visit.
Twice Brewed - Best Bitter (3.8%)
A lovely traditional tasting bitter with a toffee and fruit aroma and a malty flavour with a bitter finish. There's a hint of treacle popping up in each mouthful, but it's not there for long.

Twice Brewed - Pitch Black (3.0%)
Flavoursome for a lightweight, hint of fruit in a vanillay aroma, the smooth vanilla stays on in the taste with a good hit of dark chocolate and roasted malt. Rather moreish.

Hexhamshire - Old Humbug (5.5%)
A Ho Ho Ho in April! Well it is blooming cold. A spicy pour introduces a winter warmer flavour with raisins & currants. Spicing is just right & not overdone. It's a well-balanced sweet fruity mouthful. Right, where's m'presents!

Hexhamshire - ESB (5.0%)
A full-flavoured strong tasting malty beer which is joined by some juicy fruitiness as things proceed. Molasses and some punchy toffee blend into a malty bitter finish.

Hexhamshire - Whapweasel (4.8%)
A lively, rich and malty little thing. Initially quite sweet with toffee at the helm but turns slightly dry with a grainy finish. Full-flavoured and not I think a session beer!

Hexhamshire - Liberty (4.8%)
A pokey pale ale with plenty of stoned fruit flavour courtesy of the Mystic and Olicana hops. A little occasional smokiness drifts in and out as you head towards a dry bitter finish.

Hexhamshire - Northumberland County IPA (4.5%)
A rather unflattering pic - don't ask! A cracking traditional English IPA with lots of hoppy flavours and a dry hoppy finish. Oh, and there's a little malt lurking about to balance things up.

Hexhamshire - Cave (4.5%)
A full on tasty pale ale with malt and hops coming at you from all directions! There's just a tad of citrus in there along the way and a dry bitter finale.

Hexhamshire - Tynedale (4.2%)
A strong version of Shire but a pale ale and with a better balance of malt and hops. Well hop actually, as it's a single hop beer using the cascade variety. Very enjoyable indeed.

Hexhamshire - Blackhall English Stout 4.0%
A bordering on black traditional smoky stout. A coffee hit with berry undertones subsides into a smooth creamy finish. Pleasant and very drinkable.

Hexhamshire - Shire 3.8%
Two beers reviewed in a day - just trying to catch up! This one was light, crisp and slightly dry with a pleasant zesty/fruity edge. Maltiness comes out on top with this traditional tasting bitter - I'd quaff a second if I had one!

Hexhamshire - Wall Walker 3.6%
Full flavoured for its gravity. Light and buscuity, a little caramel and honey accompany lovely soft floral hops. Very refreshing especially as the sun's out!

Consett - Red Dust 4.5%
Smooth and malty. Initial berry fruitiness quickly subsides, before spiciness and just enough bitterness, to complement the malt, take over. A red ale that could possibly appeal to a red ale disliker!
