It was a honour to be guest of my friend and co author @angburger27 in receiving her MBE from King Charles today for her contribution to cultural history. Angie is hard working and talented historian and hopefully this will be start of more recognition.
#preciousawards22 it was an honour for Natasha and myself to accept this award for @LaraOyedele as outstanding winner in the public sector category for @preciousawards. Well done Lara for your tireless work in social housing and work with @OlmecEmpComm
Fantastic coverage by @BigIssue for #Blackhistorymonth2022 of our campaign to recover the anchor of Empire Windrush as a monument to the Windrush Generation and our shared history of migration. We will be launching soon our official fundraising campaign as part of Windrush 75.
#WindrushDay
Today the nation pays tribute to the outstanding contribution of the #Windrush Generation and their descendants to Britain. The Day was instituted in 2018 following the tireless campaigning activities of one of Goodenough College’s Fellows, Dr Patrick Vernon OBE.
Public figures across the UK including Gemma Chan, Patrick Vernon OBE and more have come together to call for the British government to officially recognise ESEA Heritage Month #ESEAHM22 this year ✊🏻✊🏽✊🏿

Interesting contrast from @ppvernon He says Black Britain esp the first post-Windrush generation felt a particular link to the Queen that put her beyond criticism for many. The challenge for King Charles of needing to build relationships and earn respect https://t.co/BtgN5W1RhL
"To many Black Britons, the Queen could do no wrong. King Charles must earn that respect".
Good article from my friend @ppvernon encapsulating how many people feel.
RIP Queen Elizabeth II.
