I am pleased to announce that Panorama has today published ‘They pass and smile, the children of the sword’. Hinterland published ‘Bradford’s unlikely literary road’ earlier this year. Both feature Bradford’s literary geography.

In the years leading up to the Grenfell Tower fire, Westminster boasted of a 'bonfire' of building regulations.
For decades, politicians have allowed corporate greed to turn safe homes into potential death traps.
Deregulation costs lives. @MattWrack on @BBCBreakfast
🚨 Grenfell Inquiry report 🚨
- "Complacent" govt "well aware" of risk of cladding disaster but failed to act
- "Systematic dishonesty" by product manufacturers "very significant reason" for fire
- "Chronic and systemic" fire safety failures by tower's social landlords
Grenfell is the greatest housing tragedy in modern British history. People died a tower block in the 6th richest country in the world, in its capital city dripping with wealth. Why? The deeply uncomfortable truth is that people with power did not do enough to stop it happening.
For years, both Conservative and Labour governments ripped into the regulations designed to protect human life, workers, consumers and the living world, favouring corporate interests over the public interest. The Grenfell Tower disaster is one of the results. 🧵
The final report of the Grenfell Tower Inquiry has now been published. On this day, we remember the 72 lives lost.
This report demonstrates beyond doubt that an agenda of deregulation cost lives.
We share the grief and anger of the bereaved, survivors and residents.
Every single death at #Grenfell was avoidable
Every mourning family suffers because “saving money” was more important than “saving lives”
It was my privilege to meet these families, whose strength leaves me awestruck
They’ve waited for justice, now it’s time to give it to them
"We paid the price of systematic dishonesty, institutional indifference, and neglect."

The Grenfell Report gives us official confirmation: 72 people needlessly died because of corporate deceit, deregulation, privatisation, ignorance, and contempt for working-class communities.
We will never, ever forget.
In 2017 I said Grenfell was social murder & was attacked by politicians from all sides & the media. Today’s report tragically confirms how right I was but more importantly demands immediate action to secure justice & to protect people at risk. https://t.co/eYducsuu2e
'We need to know who is accountable, who made the decisions that led to this horror'
Ahead of the publication of the final report on the Grenfell Tower fire which killed 72 people in 2017, former MP Emma Dent Coad told #BBCBreakfast campaigners 'want people in jail'

70 firefighters are tackling a fire in a high rise block of flats in Catford, Southeast London
Two flats on the 9th and 10th floors are currently alight.
It comes on the same day the Grenfell Tower fire inquiry was published, which found “systematic dishonesty” throughout.
"The pain we are feeling cannot disappear if we do not have justice."
Karim Khalloufi, whose sister Khadija died in the Grenfell fire tragedy, speaks to @Emmabarnett ahead of the release of The Grenfell Tower Inquiry's final report.

"What we want is very clear lines of accountability... we need to know who is actually accountable, who made the decisions... & who can be pinned down and charged. Most people, when I talk to them, they want to see people in jail"
Well said @emmadentcoad. #Grenfell
