People who doesn't write code on a daily basis predicting that Ai will 100% replace developers😒 .
Well, at the end of the day, somebody needs to write, deploy, maintain, and improve the Ai code & Infrastructure & production pipeline. Oh wait....I guess coders will still be needed 😂.
Sure, Ai might be able to "fix itself" in the future or fix another Ai's code, but that's like a blind person leading another blind person.
The biggest problem Ai will encounter in trying to "fix itself" is that Ai is not sentient and doesn't understand the intricate complexities of human emotion, societal normalities, political landscape, religious beliefs, childhood development, social cues, mental health, physical health, spiritual health, psychological health, human needs, acceptable social behavior and so many other things that makes us human and help us function as a society.
These things mentioned above impact the decisions we make when it comes to software development and data management. Sometimes, their impact shows up directly, and sometimes, they show up in-directly.
No matter how smart Ai seems to be, it will help us to remember that at the end of the day, Ai is just an advanced robot. The majority of Ai knowledge-base is based on a collection of human knowledge. Ai models are trained using information, knowledge, and data produced by humans, collected from humans. Hence why Ai has bias.
Yes, human bias bleeds into Ai because after all, the data that Ai is trained on comes from humans. If we are not careful how we train Ai models, we will see a lot of human and societal problems beginning to show up in Ai systems (This is already happening).
Sometimes, people like to think that Ai "smartness" came out of thin air, but they quickly forget that there is no Ai without humans.
Also, who's gonna maintain all that legacy code written in COBOL and other complex legacy code systems🤣. I hope someone is building a Cobol Ai somewhere.
Ai will help programmers a lot, but not replace. Maybe, we will eventually get to the point where humans will focus ONLY on thinking & creativity when it comes to programming while Ai does the code execution work (With humans only needing to validate and verify the code). But, we are nowhere near that now.
Also, it's not just coding, it's putting together the entire codebase to create something meaningful.
I will believe Ai will take over and completely replace programmers when I see Ai handle end-to-end production with ZERO human input.
Ai will design the software architecture, write all the code, organize the code structure, deploy it using CI/CD pipeline, maintain it while in production, maintain the database, handle scaling, reliability, and other factors.
Automatically handle a system crash and fix all problems associated with that, read and fix bugs found by users and write documentation for the software.
On the data side, the Ai will automatically build the data pipelines, extract the data, transform it, build data models, and make the data available for use. Then....proceed to utilize the data for analysis and decision making.
Also, let's not forget the Ai pipeline. The Ai also needs to be able to build and deploy and maintain machine learning models without human interference.
When Ai can do all these things WITHOUT human input except the initial command of build me XYZ software, model, data-warehouse, system or analyst dashboard, then I will begin to have faith that Ai will 100% replace developers.
Maybe we will get there eventually, but we are a long way from there.
The state of Ai today is that Ai will help us do the things listed above more quickly & efficiently, but not replace humans in the software development, machine learning, and data management lifecycle.
We will see where the Ai revolution goes. If Ai can do half my job, I will willingly hand it over 😊.
What are your thoughts on Ai replacing developers?
I login once every 6 months to see if y'all are still breathing, and then I quickly realize it's all brain rot and then log off for another 6 months.
See y'all again sometime in the future when I remember this app and check back again 😄.
@florinpop17 It's not the subscriber count that matters, but the view count.
Also, our niche doesn't have a great PPM. It's one of the lowest in the industry, based on my own experience. Others might disagree.
Thought of the day:
Just because something is not clearly labeled as a sin in the Bible doesn't mean it's a God Honoring behavior or action.
Just something to keep in mind as you go about your week and make decisions 😁.
@sweatystartup I have a feeling your kids are gonna grow up traumatized and end up needing therapy, lots of them. Or even distancing themselves from you. But, we have to wait another decade or 2 to find out.
@peterrhague What you sound like is an entrepreneur trying to convince everyone to quit their 9-5 and become an entrepreneur and if you don't, then some is wrong with you.
They never stop to consider that people might be happy with a 9-5 and don't want to be entrepreneur. Same with kids.
My advice to young men in their 20s is fairly ruthless but very practical.
If you wait till your 30s it gets harder and you lose some options…
Some people will say it’s “toxic” but the harsh truth is that deep down this is the answer, as unpleasant as it might be upfront…
Destroy your distractions and any vices you have… and I mean DESTROY THEM…
Annihilate them in a brutal fashion so there is no temptation left…
The world is not forgiving to those who don’t offer it enough utility/value.
Forsake the need for others approval.
If you have 3-5 good friends in this world that is plenty…
Don’t spend money on anything that doesn’t create value.
Your escapism and outlets are reading books from people smarter and wiser than you… both fiction and non-fiction.
Your hobbies are self improvement, working out, solo or group sports you can play and meditation.
If you’re in front of a screen, you’re either monetizing it or it’s monetizing you… so you better be monetizing it.
There is nearly zero value offered by indulging in pop culture and media for more than 5 hours a week if at all.
It isn’t a meaningful source of connection or shared interests once you look hard enough at it…
What? You’re going to spend your free time to talk about people more rich and more famous than you and more attractive who pretend to be other people? In impossible scenarios you can’t live up to or have access to if you tried?
And you’re supposed to bond with real people over your love of fake people that don’t really exist?
You don’t need to waste time relating over that…
Yes I’m being a bit extreme and hyperbolic here, but I want you to understand the absolute joke this is.
Put yourself in the position to talk about the things you’ve done…
The places you’ve been..,
The differently you have made…
The things that you think and believe in…
The things you have lived through…
Strive to become a person of depth, of value and of substance…
For escapism take up the arts or crafting or anything that allows you to CREATE…
In doing so you have more depth and value than talking about what someone else did or created…
And you gain skills that have value that you can exchange.
From a financial standpoint… being more focused and frugal means you can secure your future.
Max put your ROTH IRA or get as close as you can every single year.
When you invest properly, just remember your money doubles every 5 to years.
If you grind hard enough in your 20s you can invest $100k and the sooner you do the better, because after that wealth becomes inevitable…
Spend your 20s learning to earn.
You’re not missing out on “life”.
When people tell you that “you’ll miss out on life in your 20s”…
They are talking about
- disposable relationships
- drinking and drugging
- loosing sleep to late night parties
- eating garbage
- consuming content
- losing money on disposable relationships
- high risk behavior
None of which has any long term upside compared to finding your purpose by pursuing self improvement.
- Read 2-4 books a month and out their lessons into practice, fiction and non fiction, 1-2 of each.
- The money that would be spent on going out and eating junk food can be spent on wonderful travel experiences 1-2 times a year
- Do trips and spend time with friends and the cost of anything gets divided and the enjoyment is multiplied …
- Consider living with friends to save money and to eliminate adult loneliness, save and invest money
- Use free time outside of self improvement to side hustle and earn more money to invest and save
- Spend money on quality of life purchases instead of status symbols and distractions
- Take care of your body, dress well, good hygiene and grooming is real self care
- Keep your mind free of substances that give control to something other than yourself.
- Become someone who is always in the position to improve the lives of the people you are about

What I found to be true is that content creation shows you where there are gaps in your knowledge.
Sometimes, you don't even realize there are gaps in your knowledge, in what you think you know, until you have to explain it to someone else.
