๐ฅ BREAKING: Gov. Ron DeSantis just WENT OFF saying it's time to ABOLISH homeowner property taxes this November, no more excuses
"We've QUADRUPLED the rainy day fund...we're not ALLOWED to put any MORE MONEY in the rainy day fund constitutionally. We've done too good." ๐ฅ
DeSantis says FL can simply BACK-FILL rural counties because we have so much money and a BALANCED BUDGET
"When you run a GOOD state, when you have a LEAN government, when you're REDUCING spending, paying down debt, running surpluses, you have the flexibility to do some of these things on property tax!"
Make it happen! The ballot amendment begins relief on the homestead exemption, and keeps raising it through when the legislatures files terms for ABOLISHMENT
Dogs on Skid Row in Los Angeles are getting their eyes and privates glued shut. Legs falling off. Dissected. Surgeries done in tents. Used in fighting rings and as drug test subjects.
One French bulldog overdosed on six different drugs. Hundreds die every year. An activist has already pulled more than 150 of them out.
Mayor Karen Bass and the city treat those tents like sacred ground even when this evil is happening inside. They look the other way while animals suffer for the addiction and chaos they refuse to stop.
This is pure failure. Clean it up. Protect the animals. Stop pretending this is compassion.

Nineteen dogs were scheduled to be euthanized.
Then a Buffalo Bills wide receiver showed up and opened the van door.
Khalil Shakir is one of the best slot receivers in the NFL. He is also, quietly, in the dog rescue business.
Here's how this one happened.
His family's foundation, the Shakir Family Foundation, held a big pet adoption event in Buffalo. Eight local rescue organizations took part. A bunch of Bills players showed up. So did a big chunk of the community.
Eighteen dogs from one rescue, Nickel City Canine Rescue, found homes that day.
And while he was there, somebody mentioned to Shakir that a transport was coming in the next day.
Clarke County Animal Shelter, like a lot of shelters, has to euthanize dogs when they run out of space. Nickel City's fosters had gone through the list and identified 19 dogs they could take.
A representative for the rescue described Shakir's reaction in one sentence: his eyes lit up, and he said he would love to come help again.
So the next day he showed up. Not with cameras and a PR team. With his mother, Mona, and two of his best friends.
ESPN's description of the moment is the whole thing: Shakir had his signature big, bright smile on his face as he opened the van door, and inside were 19 dogs waiting.
He helped them off the truck and helped them get used to their new surroundings while they waited for homes.
Nickel City's post about it said it perfectly.
19 dogs. 19 second chances.
Now here's the part that makes this more than a nice afternoon.
Clarke County is the exact same shelter where the Shakirs' own dog, Missy, was rescued from by Nickel City before the family adopted her.
He wasn't helping strangers. He was going back to the place his own dog came from.
And this wasn't his first one either. Shakir and his wife Sayler had helped with another transport a few months earlier that saved 26 dogs.
That's 45 dogs in a single year from two transports, plus a foundation adoption event that placed 18 more.
He's also partnered with Nickel City enough times that one of the dogs they rescued ended up in the Puppy Bowl.
There's a version of an NFL player's charity work that's a photo op and a check. And there's a version where a 25 year old brings his mom and his two best friends to a parking lot on a Sunday to meet a van.
Shakir does the second one.

A good nugget from this roundtable:
Almost 75% of Florida residents who attend state universities do not take out any student loans.
Of the students who do take out loans the average loan is a little more than 6 grand.

Kano is home.
Raynard Bass, 40, held Omaha police at bay for six hours after fleeing a shoplifting call. He pointed a gun at officers, fired shots, and hid inside a wall in a North Omaha home.
They sent in K9 Kano. The dog found him. Bass strangled the Malinois until he stopped breathing. Officers gave CPR on the floor. Firefighters rushed him to the vet.
Kano survived. Heโs recovering at home with handler Officer Ryan Keele, surrounded by treats and toys from the community. Still has swelling in his chest, lungs, and liver, but heโs expected to return to duty.
Bass sits in jail on a pile of felonies including animal cruelty to a police service animal, felon in possession of a firearm, and more. Held on a million dollar bond.
A man who chokes a police dog unconscious after terrorizing a neighborhood doesnโt deserve sympathy. He deserves the full weight of the law. Kano did his job. Now the system better do its job.

๐จ JUST IN: As of noon ET, Florida Republicans are out-voting Democrats by MORE THAN *DOUBLE*
The surge is insane...wow.
Election day primary 2026 is now 11.8 points redder than 2022! ๐คฏ
๐ด Republican: 283,267 (63.89%)
๐ต Democrat: 123,581 (27.9%)
KEEP SURGING.
This is SUPER important nationally because assuming a tight US House race, Florida can sway 4 seats red because of redistricting.
We need this energy through November!
Republicans stay united in FL!
