Loving people is hard work. But hating people is toxic, even if it *feels* easier. I almost fell/ did fall into hate recently, and it felt TERRIBLE. Plus, it inflamed others who already wanted to throw hate at me. So I pray especially hard today: please, God, help me BE LOVE 🤍
@Billy_K_Ball@TheAtlantic This story came up in my news feed and I’d like to lend my voice to the side of compassion, support, shared humanity, and all the other things that humans REALLY are (under all our hurt & fear). Thank you for sharing your son’s bright light with us. I am brighter today for it 🤍
@frankmugisha “Honorable” members? Maybe they should switch to “bigoted” members? Or “members living in fear of sexuality” or “members who are causing harm to other humans?’
@ArtieGonzales23 A just system acknowledges the WHOLE human from the get go. A just system takes responsibility for the maladaptive behavior of its members. A just system aims to teach, help, heal. I think it’s safe to say we do NOT live in a just system 🤢
@MorganGodvin READ THE MAGIC OF FACILITATION (11 things you didn’t know you didn’t know). Recommended to me by my social work practicum supervisor and it is GAME CHANGING 🙌
@ncshusterman This isn’t a recommendation, just a philosophic argument. The key word in state-sanctioned murder is MURDER and it is inexcusable and unforgivable in every form 🤍
@UnCagedCritique Plus… once someone earns money, it’s theirs. So they aren’t sending “our” money anywhere. PLUS if they really wanna talk about where our money is going, maybe they should check the corporate and ultra-wealthy offshore tax havens 🤔
@bshelburne@GovernorKayIvey Q: What’s the difference between a rat and a hamster
A: nothing, it’s a matter of public relations
(Ditto for criminal murder and state-sanctioned executions)
💔💔💔
@SecretPrisoner Entertained may not be the word I would use but your tweets certainly keep my feet to the fire in the fight for human justice. Without constant reminders, it’s easy to slip back into a comfy, privileged life & forget (consciously or not) the real-time injustices 😔
@deemishell@GavinNewsom@RobBonta People who work difficult jobs often rely on gallows humor… but most professionals know to keep those tasteless jokes internal. It goes to show how desensitized one must be to work a job that treats human life with such numbing disregard. They don’t see humans they see bad guys
@Mitigation_Hope I can’t believe I can still be shocked at how rotten this apple really is, but I am SHOCKED at how many responses to this post are basically “samesies.” It’s cool that the threat doesn’t always manifest, but it’s heartbreaking that this particular threat is so… ubiquitous 💔
@jasminecrowe This thread is a fascinating study of visual v auditory learners. I *love* audiobooks because my body can be doing mindless chores (dishes, laundry, long drives) all while getting a good story in. Silent reading puts me to sleep, which is why my nightstand is stacked with NY’ers
@ConLawWarrior I was *just* thinking about this. Like when we watch <The Serpent> we’re like “only a sociopath would just lie like that and cause so much harm all the while convincing themselves the victim deserved it!” But then I started thinking about undercover FBI agents…
