Did you know that the first women to land on the Normandy beachhead in June 1944 were nurses of Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Nursing Service?
Their task was to establish a field hospital for 600 wounded soldiers.
They succeeded.
Please remember these heroines who saved lives:
@Beefeater_Fella@NafoDingo As always, a brilliant well researched article. As Beefeater wrote, “If we learned nothing else from June 6, 1944, let it be this: brutal bullies must be opposed in time, not appeased.”
Putin is such a bully!
NEVER AGAIN, again..

@the_iceman64 God save us from the horrific ignorance , raising racism and trumpism. Millions honourably sacrificed their lives so we could enjoy freedom and democracies..
90% of the soldiers on the first boats to hit the beach didn't live to see the end of the day. Look at those faces. Some of them never made it to 18.
Never forget that they paid the ultimate price for our freedom. We live our lives the way we do because of them.
Thank you to all who fought and sacrificed in freedoms defense all those years ago. Incredible footage here. Blessed that both my uncles survived and will never forget the over 400,000 who did not come home.
From the #DDay anniversary in 2022. Four years later, every word still true. Putin is the Hitler of our time, and we are still doing too little to stop him.
82 years ago today Scotty from Star Trek was shot 6 times during D-Day while fighting for Canada during WWII. On June 6, 1944, James M. Doohan of Vancouver, later of Sarnia, landed at Juno Beach while serving in the Canadian Army. He was wounded six times later that day by friendly fire and later became best known as Scotty on Star Trek. 🇨🇦
