Very excited to share the latest filmmaker curated short film: It's the Knees! by the one and only filmmaker + production designer extraordinaire, Grace Sloan! ✨ available to stream on: https://t.co/smx5BuSQvF
Okay, so - clearly the creator of this website (me, sophy) underestimated how much extra time I would have to run this project smoothly. I hope to eventually hire help, but as a total no-profit endeavour I have not yet been able to do so. That being said...new short drops today!
TIME by filmmaker Ben Creech is the latest in the program, selected by Evan Schwartz! I love a conceptually tight short film that sticks to its guns and this fits the bill perfectly. Available now! ⏲️⌛️🎞️https://t.co/smx5BuSQvF
@rossbrew Hi Ross! Feel free to submit your short through our website, all shorts are considered equally through the filmmaker curation process. Thanks!

I'm thinking of running a 4-session (plus 1 mentoring session) Short Film Workshop series for filmmakers all about writing/directing shorts, from the idea through to film festivals - if you'd be interested in that, drop me a DM or send an email to [email protected] 🎥
This is actually very solid advice for anyone just starting out with narrative short films: before you write your script, think about what you have access to! 💡

Now showing: FOUR NIGHTS OF A DREAMER a rarely-seen revelation by ROBERT BRESSON
Two wayward souls meet on a bridge: a girl who may jump, a boy who may save her. Bresson arranges for them a play of hands, doorways, and audiotape.

"If we’re going to keep referring to short films by that moniker, can we start calling feature films 'longs'? Or at least acknowledge that the length of a film does not correspond to its worth?"

A friendly reminder, in particular to shorts filmmakers navigating festivals:
1) If a festival contacts YOU to submit your work, ask for a waiver -- you should not be paying.
2) Always ask about screenings fees. Many festivals will only provide them to those who ask.
Hello! I want to apologize for the long absence on this page -- simply couldn't keep up on my own, BUT we will be returning to our regular programming post TIFF!
Next up: the gentle and thoughtful photo essay Grantham Overgrown (Infinite Regression) by Thomas Watchorn about which filmmaker Nick White said: “It made me consider on a really fundamental level what draws me to filmmaking” ✨
