1.) many more away fans than home fans
2.) very little spontaneous support and singing - a lot more piped in music

@TomShanklin For me ~30mins, we’re 14-10 up and playing vs 13, get turnover ball and Anscombe kicks the ball away into Fiji 22m. No other tier 1 team is doing that, others trust their attack can run 3 phases and open up space, but Wales can’t/don’t want to. Painful

Smaller squads/team sheets is good for player familiarity with the average fan.

Tired players create more gaps in D etc

But I don’t think there is a solution that doesn’t incentivise cheating (bloodgate) or a risk to player welfare

@Steffan_Thomas1 I had two contrary ideas.

The 1-cap rule: you can’t be picked for wales if you’re playing outside wales unless you already have one cap (lure the youngest talent back in to regional rugby from England.)

A two-gap-year rule; play outside wales for up to 2 years, but no more.

Welsh rugby could benefit from a few more players having played in France, SA, NZ…

It’s notable that someone like Navidi played in rugby in NZ and as he’s developed has become one of Wales’ classiest players.

Likewise, players like Parkes bought a similar maturity to Wales
