🟪Tribute to Herbert W. Franke 🟪
Namibia project: Computer Science Teacher Starts at OPEN DOORS
The foundation thanks all generative artists of the Tribute project making possible this support with their donations

As part of the cooperation with Tangeni Shilongo Namibia, computer science teacher Sem Amuthitu finally has started teaching at the OPEN DOORS Education Center (ODEC). It was made possible thanks to the support of the Foundation Herbert W. Franke. The non-profit organization Tangeni has been designing and setting up educational programs for children and young people in Namibia since 2015. The school currently offers classes for grades 1 to 3 with 25 children each and has an IT center, a library and homework supervision. In addition, the pupils are served warm, nutritious meals twice a day, all free of charge.
With Sem, the IT course has been firmly integrated into the school curriculum now. In addition, computer science courses are offered to interested young people and adults in the region. The primary target group for all services is the residential area DRC (Democratic Resettlement Community), a region with around 40,000 inhabitants in the most basic living conditions and adjacent neighborhoods. @HerbertWFranke

AI can generate images instantly, but every result is different.

You can train your own model, mix images, fine-tune outputs, or even create entirely new aesthetics—there’s endless room for creativity.

Photography works the same way: anyone can take pictures with a phone, but the decisions framing, gear, lighting, editing define the artistry.

AI art isn’t just about pressing a button; it’s about the choices behind it.

Not long ago, people argued that photography wasn’t art. Now, the same debate is happening with AI.

In conversation with Margaret Murphy (@margaretonline), Franziska Ostermann discusses the selfie as a feminist act, the aesthetic power of the color white, and the connection between visual art and poetry.

🟦 "It's not about choosing between traditional and digital forms; both have their place in our reading and writing experiences. The key is to embrace the diversity of formats available to us, recognizing that each offers unique ways to explore and express ideas."

💭 Kevin Abosch, 2023: "The wise artist doesn’t fear emergent technology, but rather asks, 'How can I use this tool in a meaningful way?' What I find so valuable in AI, and deep-learning algorithms in particular, is its power to surface that which I may not have been able to without assistance.

In working intimately with AI, the artist has the opportunity to come under the influence of the machine. This is not a simple transaction from which one walks away unchanged. The machine can teach us a different way of looking at a subject, often leaving us with another understanding and with enhanced sensibilities. We are changed.

Indeed, to properly navigate our AI-future, this form of evolution is necessary. Artists and philosophers will be our guides."

🟦 LINE CUBE #8 from LINE CUBES by Hans Dehlinger.

In the 1980s, Hans Dehlinger created a series of cubes as pen plotter drawings.

Almost 40 years later, the now-84-year-old artist returned to this topic, and 10 new cubes, titled LINE CUBES, are emerging from code as "aesthetic events".

In our Artist Highlight series, we introduce the artist duo Jennifer @JennMcCoySpace and Kevin McCoy @mccoyspace, based in New York, who work with interactive media, film, performance, and installation. Their practice explores how technology, mass media, personal experience, and global commerce shape cultural narratives, influencing both individual perception and broader societal structures. Kevin McCoy is also known for creating Quantum in 2014, the first blockchain-registered artwork, which played a significant role in the early history of NFTs.
