Idk if other chronically ill folks experience this, but I’ve come to loathe the question “How are you?” For one because it’s asked incessantly when you have a severe chronic illness, but also because the asker so often needs me/us to lie. To reassure them. I am so tired of lying.
I cannot overstate how pervasive and lethal medical disbelief is.
It’s not a few bad apples. It is how the system is designed, and it begins in medical school.
All this talk of telemedicine, telecommuting, telelearning.
It's as though ABLE-BODIED PEOPLE LOVE ACCESSIBILITY!
Remember how wonderful it is to have options when you can't leave your home. Become allies to make some of these changes permanent.
