MY TAKE THIS WEEK
If all European countries and America voted against recognising that the slave trade existed and that it requires reparations, why would they want to discuss reparations? The best way is to first admit it and then discuss the matter.
I do not understand why we Africans are weak in internationalism and why we fall into the pitfalls of poor judgement each time we are faced with difficult issues, such as the case of a Somali referee being sent away simply because he is Somali. Yet we continue to cheer for the same football.
“We can easily forgive those who are afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when humans are afraid of the light. If my mind can conceive it and my heart can believe it, then I can achieve it.”
I tell you, as a lecturer in political science and conflict resolution, that a civilisation does not collapse only when it runs out of resources; it can also collapse when it runs out of careful thinking.
If you look at the collapse of the Roman Empire after the assassination of Julius Caesar, it was not because it lacked resources, but because of the careless thinking and decisions of the Romans at that time.
Many African countries might soon collapse for the same reasons mentioned above. If I am wrong, then I ask Angel Gabriel, who is nearest to Earth’s orbit, to help me deliver this message.
It is not my own death that matters or worries me; what worries me more than anything else is the destruction of Africa and the lack of African unity of purpose.
I end here with a sad heart.
