If they miss out on Anderson, so be it, just move on. We don’t need excuses or sob stories about wages. Some you win, some you lose.

Leaking it after the summer window closed and throughout January was a cynical ploy to appease fans because they didn’t bring in a midfielder then (which they should have).

As soon as the summer window closed, they were happy to repeat via reliable journalists (Ornstein) that Anderson was the priority. They should have kept their mouths shut.
