The proof that Abiy is doing whatever he has been told to do doesn’t require binoculars or exceptional intelligence to understand. We know the gruesome events that unfolded on October 7, 2023, when a coordinated cross-border assault led by Hamas against southern Israel killed approximately 1,200 people and resulted in 251 hostages being taken. (Reuters)
Abiy’s apparent attempt to replicate a fake invasion on the same month and date raises serious questions. After all, the fact that the events appear to follow the same date is worth examining. Furthermore, the journalists providing input are Ethiopians working for Reuters and ACLEDINFO.
I am #Eritrean and I stand by my country. But the claim that Eritrea illegally invaded #Ethiopia is false. Eritrea defends its borders, but we do not threaten any neighbor. Anyone who claims otherwise should provide evidence. I rely on truth and de-escalation, not fearmongering.
The term 'decaffeinated sovereignty' isn't law, it's branding for irredentism. #Eritrea insisting its border & Red Sea coast are non-negotiable isn't a shield. #Ethiopia claiming another state's coastline as existential is the real one-way street.

A few things need to be said. Did you ever stop to consider this when making claims about the Red Sea, Eritrean ports, or Somaliland in Somalia or when backing the RSF against the Sudanese people?
The claim that Eritrea invaded Ethiopia is part of a coordinated media campaign and serve as a pretext for war against Eritrea. Several Ethiopian journalists working for news outlets have promoted this narrative.
The 1908 treaty set the #Eritrea–#Ethiopia border 60 km from the coast to #Djibouti, leaving #Assab in Eritrea; the #AfricanUnion’s inherited-border principle rejects seizure by threats or force, regardless of past history, economic interests, landlocked status or national power.
Yesterday, the PP alleged Eritrea had entered Ethiopian territory. Today, with its troops near Eritrea’s border, it is suddenly claiming self-defense. This looks like nothing more than an excuse to go after Eritrea and manufacture a pretext for war. @UN@StateDept@UnderSecPD@SecRubio@_AfricanUnion@UN_Spokesperson@hrw
Fake Information Debunked!!!
Channel 4 News admits mistake and takes down the incorrect reporting that claimed that Eritrea moved soldiers into Ethiopia.
The fact is that the video was of Eritrean soldiers heading home, after helping the Ethiopian regime campaign of law enforcement, in 2023.
Arkebe Okbay — a prominent #Ethiopian politician and former Mayor of Addis Ababa and is currently an executive board member of @GCAdaptation based in #Netherlands — lays out the hard truths about port ownership and exposes the very same fallacies the Prosperity Party is recycling today.
He delivers clear warnings to those he describes as “infected with port fever”: If you claim you will take back ports by force, then explain how.
#Ethiopia has already sacrificed nearly a million young people, including university students, in past wars to occupy #Eritrea, If you claim you will regain ports peacefully, then tell us what new method you possess that Haile Selassie and the Derg did not already attempt.
He states that the EPRDF’s choice was a principled one — to avoid endless bloodshed, respect international norms, and honor the UN-supervised referendum through which the #Eritrean people won their independence.
And finally, he states: Eritrea is a sovereign nation. International law applies. You cannot seize ports or land that do not belong to you.
Arkebe is very eloquent and clear in his message and one Abiy should heed before he reaches a breaking point that he can not return.
Great experiance...
As we addressed in our Statement to the 6th Committee, international law cannot be understood apart from its historical origins or the power structures that continue to shape its application. For #Eritrea, the question is not whether international law matters, but whether it is applied consistently, without double standards or political selectivity.
The colonial legacy, the weaponization of human rights, and unilateral coercive measures imposed outside the framework of the @UN Charter expose enduring asymmetries in the international order. Sovereign equality must mean more than a formal principle; it must be reflected in practice.
A more just international legal order requires consistent standards, genuine multilateralism, and equal respect for the sovereignty and rights of all States, big and small alike.
Eritrean independence is an actual historical, political & settled legal fact!
Its sovereign territory is marked with its precious martyrs & the law. Any threat against this is a red line. No amount of rhetoric, misinformation, or false narrative changes this.
