In Mozambique, journalists are being poisoned, killed, abducted and silenced while Cabo Delgado’s gas economy remains protected. Gas for corporations, fear for citizens — this is the old colonial equation wearing a new suit.
The #US government, led by its dishonest and mendacious Secretary of State, continues to take steps to tighten the siege around the Cuban economy, when the latter is proving to be stronger, more capable and efficient than it expected in the face of a ruthless aggression and the collective punishment imposed on the Cuban people and its living conditions.
What drives this individual from the biggest power in the world is a crime.
The world's dreamers come to America because American foreign policy spent more than seventy years making sure their home countries couldn't become what America promised to be.
The coup in Iran. The coup in Guatemala. The embargo on Cuba. The destruction of Iraq.
They aren't coming because America is exceptional.
They're coming because America made the alternatives unlivable.
And then takes the immigration as a compliment.

Corruption by African leaders or Sabotage by the West, which is the primary hindrance to Africa’s development?

Where are the elders of this land? Where have they been as evil has overtaken the land? How do we explain the silent complicity of those who ought to be found bemoaning and mourning the destruction of our country? How?

There are two types of racism in the west: the kind that’s considered acceptable in polite liberal society, and the kind that’s widely frowned upon.
The acceptable type of racism is the kind which considers it fine and normal to drop bombs on Muslim families overseas. The kind which sees starvation sanctions as a minor issue whose pros and cons are assessed solely on the basis of whether they will be successful or unsuccessful in achieving regime change. The kind which views imperialist extraction from the global south as the natural order of the world, with centrists and progressives squabbling only about how evenly that plunder should be distributed among westerners.
The unacceptable type of racism is the kind which affects other westerners. The kind whose consequences western liberals have to see.
If a white woman calls the police on a black man minding his own business in the park, western liberals will send her viral on social media, and she will be unwelcome in polite society until the heat dies down. If a celebrity is caught on tape uttering an ethnic slur, they’ll be unpopular for a while, and will be considered a liability by sponsors and film studios. This is the wrong kind of racism.
That’s what you’re seeing whenever the western press completely ignores a dozen Palestinians getting killed by western-made munitions on the same day the entire news media focuses on some allegation of “antisemitism” with no material consequences other than some western Jews feeling emotionally upset. The former is the right kind of racism, while the latter is the wrong kind. One is seen as acceptable and normal, while the other is a horrifying abuse.
Western racism falls into two distinct categories because our entire civilization is built upon the polite kind, whereas the impolite kind is useful to the powerful only as a wedge issue to keep western populations divided against each other. Mainstream western politics is often just a culture war between one major party which embraces both the polite and impolite kinds of racism against another major party which only embraces the polite kind of racism, thereby ensuring that no political energy goes toward ending the polite kind of racism.
The polite kind of racism is much more important to the powerful in the 21st century, because it’s an absolutely foundational component to their rule rather than merely a useful tool. Without the imperialist extraction of labor and resources from the global south at extortionate prices, you wouldn’t see sprawling megacorporations turning millionaires into billionaires and trillionaires who then use their wealth to manipulate western politics to promote their own agendas. Without nonstop military expansionism and the abuses of the western intelligence cartel, the managers of the western empire could not dominate our planet.
That’s why every few years westerners get to vote on whether or not to advance the impolite kind of racism in their society, while the polite kind of racism never appears on the ballot. You’re allowed to vote on whether or not your government will become more abusive to immigrants and other marginalized members of your society, but you’re never allowed to vote on whether or not war, militarism and imperialist extraction will continue. This expression of racism (or white supremacism, or xenophobia, or western supremacism, or whatever you want to call it) is considered too important to be left to the will of the electorate.
And you see this reflected in the consciousness of the western mind. Even relatively aware westerners who would place themselves on the far left of the political spectrum will often spend a lot more energy on domestic issues than the abuses of the western war machine.
Earlier this month the discourse on Left Twitter revolved around whether or not it was a “privileged take” to say that people shouldn’t serve in the US military, the argument being that many US military personnel come from disadvantaged backgrounds. I saw a lot of US progressives who furiously disparage ICE agents and American cops falling all over themselves to defend those who enlist in the US war machine, which is quantifiably far more murderous and oppressive than domestic American law enforcement.
The only way to see things this way would be to view those who live in the global south as less human than people who live in the United States. That’s the only way it could possibly make sense in your mind to see the abuses of your country’s domestic police forces as worse than the demonstrably more egregious abuses of the US war machine. You’d have to view a school full of Iranian children being blown up by the US Navy as less worthy of attention and opposition than an American being beaten by a police officer in the United States. You’d have to assume those Iranian lives don’t matter.
And those are some of the more awake members of western society. Most westerners are a lot less conscious and compassionate than that.
Westerners live in the most savage and murderous civilization on earth. We don’t feel like we are savage and murderous because we outsource most of our violence and slavery to overseas operations, but that’s what we are. We go about our lives consuming products made by wage slaves under an oppression machine that is defended through constant mass military slaughter, and then we wag our fingers at a viral video of some schizophrenic saying racist things in order to feel nice feelings about ourselves. That’s what western life is, right there.
We’ve got a lot of growing up to do. We are in need of drastic, revolutionary change, more extensive than probably most of us can imagine at this point in time. We’ve got a long, long way to go, and a whole, whole lot of wrongs we need to make right around the world.

When a Western government negotiates a trade deal that locks a developing country into exporting raw materials while prohibiting the industrial policy that would let it manufacture finished goods:
They call it "competitiveness."
When an African country is structurally adjusted by the IMF into cutting health and education budgets in exchange for loans it needed partly because commodity prices were suppressed by Western agricultural subsidies:
They call it "fiscal responsibility."
When a Latin American government that tries to nationalize its own resources is destabilized by external pressure and internal funded opposition:
They call it "democracy promotion."
The language is always neutral. Always technical. Always about principles that supposedly apply universally.
The outcomes are never universal.
The outcomes flow in one direction, consistently, across decades, across continents, across every change of government in the countries doing the adjusting.
At what point does a coincidence become a system?
We constantly talk about the horrifying open slave markets in Libya, the human auctions, and how Black Africans are being traded like cheap commodities on their own continent.
As deeply painful, shameful, and humiliating as this reality is, we must stop comfortably pretending that North Africa is the only region engaged in this barbaric human trade.
In fact, you simply cannot talk about modern slavery in Africa without directly exposing the devastating plight of our brothers and sisters in Northern Nigeria, Niger, and Chad. The average Fulani herders in Northern Nigeria, for example, do not own a single one of the cows they control. These massive herds belong almost exclusively to powerful Northern oligarchs, corrupt federal politicians, military generals, and high-profile Nigerian elites. And even though the Nigerian public likes to pretend these herders are independent, free-market laborers working for a living, when you actually audit their non-existent salaries, their squalid outdoor accommodations, their terrible daily feeding, and the rags in which they are clothed, it becomes painfully safe to classify their actual employment status as raw chattel slavery.
For absolute macroeconomic context: the cattle and livestock industry in Nigeria is a multi-trillion Naira economy. It contributes a staggering $32 billion annually to the national treasury, accounting for a massive 5% of the Gross Domestic Product of Nigeria.
Now, if you think that 5% is a minor segment, please permit me to intellectually enlighten you that all of our commercial banks, financial institutions, microfinance houses, and insurance companies put together only contribute a meager 2.9% to the Nigerian GDP. This clearly, undeniably proves that the cattle industry in Nigeria is a highly lucrative, insanely profitable, and goldmine-level enterprise.
This clearly demonstrates that the biggest players, silent investors, and corporate godfathers in this cattle business are some of the wealthiest, most powerful people in Nigeria, individuals who would easily be wealthier than major hedge fund managers and equity traders on Wall Street if they were to publicly list their livestock assets on the stock exchange. But ironically, despite the immense, astronomical wealth generated from this industry, the impoverished workers who are condemned to attend to these animals literally 24/7 are rarely, if ever, paid a regular, fair, or legally binding wage. Instead, they are aggressively forced into highly unfair, informal oral contracts where they are subjected to meager daily or monthly cash handouts that make them work like horses. In many cases, these workers are trapped in a rigged system where they are promised a single calf, a tiny goat, or a sheep only after completing a full, uninterrupted year of grueling, 24/7 manual labor. To make this trap complete, if any cattle are lost, stolen by rustlers, or die from common animal diseases, the herder's artificial debt to the wealthy owner immediately increases, permanently trapping them in a vicious cycle of lifelong debt bondage. And since these vulnerable workers are mostly recruited from the absolute lowest, most marginalized strata of society and are largely uneducated, they cannot form labor unions, organize collective strikes, or demand a standardized minimum wage. Since the corrupt Nigerian state effectively acts as if they do not exist, they enjoy zero media spotlight, and their billionaire employers get away with this overt slavery, systemic exploitation, and human rights abuse with absolute impunity.
One of the most horrifying, critical human rights violations in this sector is the widespread, systematic reliance on child labor. Vulnerable children as young as 7 to 14 years old are routinely, callously put in charge of massive, dangerous herds of cattle. They are sent deep into dense forests, treacherous bushlands, and hostile terrains, often completely alone, to graze animals for weeks and even months by their wealthy masters who are comfortably lounging in air-conditioned apartments, luxury penthouses, and 5-star suites in the cities. These children are almost entirely, systematically excluded from any form of formal education, thereby reinforcing a permanent, generational cycle of illiteracy, hopelessness, and extreme poverty. When they return, their wealthy masters routinely abuse, starve, and physically beat them without a single ounce of mercy or basic human compassion. Again, these rich employers do this with absolute impunity because the Nigerian state conveniently pretends that this horrific child exploitation is completely non-existent.
To crown all of this structural horror, there are significant intelligence briefings, classified reports, and academic studies confirming that these highly marginalized, desperate herders are actively recruited into banditry, organized cattle rustling, and highly lucrative kidnapping syndicates by their very own wealthy employers. This is exactly why, despite being largely uneducated, completely illiterate, and physically unkempt, these Fulani herdsmen kidnappers usually tend to have almost infinite financial resources, high-grade military weaponry, and precise tactical intelligence available to them. They operate advanced military-grade assault rifles, heavy machine guns, tactical gear, and even kamikaze drones for their sophisticated kidnapping operations. Their specialized satellite phones cannot be tracked or intercepted even by the DSS in Nigeria because these high-tech phones come equipped with proprietary chips that can directly calculate the Doppler shifts of military satellites in orbit, bypassing our local cell phone towers entirely to completely evade triangulation, geo-location, and tracking from law enforcement agencies. This clearly, undeniably demonstrates that these illiterate foot soldiers are being properly funded, strategically guided, and logistically backed by wealthy oligarchs, corrupt politicians, and multi-billion-dollar corporate cartels.
What is even more troubling, deeply hypocritical, and utterly shameful is that no sitting president in Nigeria, since the Boko Haram insurgencies first went mainstream in 2008, has ever attempted to address, regulate, or outlaw this open enslavement and exploitation of our youths and children in Northern Nigeria. This is despite the fact that highly respected studies by global organizations like the Global Initiative Against Transnational Organized Crime (GI-TOC) have repeatedly, explicitly pointed out that cattle rustling and pastoralist exploitation are not just random, localized crimes; they are highly organized, multi-million-dollar criminal enterprises. Yet, no president, state governor, or even a loud opposition politician has ever dared to investigate this monumental chattel slavery and systemic economic theft happening right under our noses. Our mainstream media houses also comfortably pretend as if these Fulani herders are not actual human beings. Because if they truly considered them to be human, they would be producing brilliant investigative journalism series, filming documentaries, and running exposes documenting their horrific living conditions, their meager pay, and how most of them are condemned to live like wild animals in the bushes while their wealthy masters are lounging in 5-star luxury hotels in Eko Atlantic, driving armored vehicles, and flying private jets. If our cash-and-carry media houses considered them human, they would be aggressively investigating the fraudulent verbal contracts under which these children are working, exposing the elite owners of these massive herds (both local politicians and foreign investors), and boldly calling them exactly what they are: modern-day slave owners.
Let’s see how many Nigerians will join me in asking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to kindly resign.

When we boldly point out that USAID directly or indirectly funds violent terrorist groups like Boko Haram, Al-Qaeda, and ISIS, you dismiss us as unhinged conspiracy theorists or anti-Western propagandists. Now, look at a former U.S official deep inside the Trump administration openly dropping the exact same bombshell confessions and admitting that hundreds of millions of dollars in foreign aid have been funneled straight into the hands of these extremist organizations.
And as usual, our cash-and-carry Nigerian media houses will aggressively look the other way because their strict editorial mandate is to heavily localize our structural crises.
They want you to believe that security collapses, rural banditry, and bloody insurgencies are happening solely because our local politicians are corrupt, incompetent, and stealing money. But they will never expose the deep, rotten layers of foreign corruption. They will never explain that we are intentionally left with weak, corrupt, and compromised puppet leaders because USAID grants, neocolonial programs, and intelligence assets are actively used to topple our progressive revolutionary leaders, while the same exact agency is exposed for sending millions of dollars that ultimately fund the terror groups currently ravaging our towns, burning our villages, and slaughtering our citizens.
