@_AJWheeIer@FFatbintou@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 The luck I was talking about was double digit point swings that would have otherwise been impossible without a single event though. I don't think that's the same as a long list of minor events that can't fully capture the potential range of minor outcomes.
@_AJWheeIer@FFatbintou@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 Yes, like I said it does have a factor, it's just pointless to get into one point here, one point there for each race when it's happening to both drivers consistently unless you do an in depth analysis of both drivers weekends with probability modelling.
@_AJWheeIer@FFatbintou@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 This year clearly hasn't been about maximising performance for Williams so I'm not sure how you think those stats support that. Albon has objectively had a cleaner season this year in terms of penalty points though.
@_AJWheeIer@FFatbintou@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 How do these stats not have the same problem? And I thought we already agreed that 2026 is largely down to Williams running using a huge portion of their races as test sessions? Do really think race h2h is worthwhile when Albon is doing 5 pit stops for testing during races?
@_AJWheeIer@FFatbintou@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 These are not my notes. But yes all of these events are interconnected and have implications on each other, which is why this entire approach is pointless. We could just as easily take away all the points Sainz got from Albon's mechanical DNS' or DNFs, but where does this end?
@FFatbintou@_AJWheeIer@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 My comment was specifically about the first half of 2025 where Sainz clearly wasn't comfortable with the car yet. Sainz himself said he wasn't and was very honest about his lack of understanding and therefore ability with that car early on.
@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 Baku, red flags in qualifying directly set up his front-row start and safety cars allowed his to maintain positions he wouldn't have otherwise. In Qatar he caused a red flag in quali that stopped others from settings times then got an incredibly timed pit stop in the race.
@FFatbintou@_AJWheeIer@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 Yes and it's simply ridiculous to bring up a list of these things as if it hasn't happened to Albon every other race too. You bring up Imola where Albon was on for a potential podium until he was hit by Leclerc? What is the point of this kind of argument.
@FFatbintou@_AJWheeIer@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 Bringing up a list of Sainz' issues in isolation, and cherry picking for negative luck, is worthless, if you want me to read something like this it only has any value if it objectively analyses the factors in both drivers races.
@FFatbintou@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 Sorry but how do you get that from me referencing FIA penalty points. You are delusional if you think that Sainz could have achieved those two podiums without those stoppages beyond his control, that is simply fact.
@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 It's a particularly ridifculous stat because such a large portion of those points were due to lucky red flags and safety cars last year. Albon would be equal on points with Sainz this year if it wasn't for mechanical issues in China.
@_AJWheeIer@FFatbintou@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 Very funny that you brought up narrative before and then you present a list of fan notes as if it is objective data. My point stands that there is more to luck than what those notes consider and I'm not going to repeat myself explaining why.
@ansardem@_AJWheeIer@FFatbintou@Bambaclaat1 According to the 2026 sporting regulations he very clearly didn't deserve a penalty for yesterdays incident. If you can't understand why there is no point talking with you.
@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 Look past the daft cherry picked stats (Why the last 63 points?) and it's plain to see that Albon is the more skillful driver in the race. Sainz certainly is the Saturday merchant though.
@_AJWheeIer@FFatbintou@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 Very funny that you mentioned nuance before and then repeatedly conflate completely different points I'm making about different topics.
@ansardem@FFatbintou@Bambaclaat1 Ocon was not alongside Alonso when Albon made the move. Albon's front wheel was alongside Alonso's mirror before the apex. There was plenty of room on the inside and outside of Alsonso when Albon started the move.
@_AJWheeIer@FFatbintou@ansardem@Bambaclaat1 Those don't disagree with each other. In all incidents drivability is a factor, as well as luck, but Albon has clearly been more risk averse this year.
