The responses to our survey are finally available to the public! Thank you to the 46 candidates who filled it out. We hope this serves as a good resource for voters to know where some candidates stand on our policies!

Tonight @RegionWaterloo is meeting to discuss the budget. One particular policy on our survey is quite relevant:
"Boost funding to police-free, upstream social services by at least the proposed increase of the WRPS budget, and keep the WRPS budget at its current amount."
These are the councillors who responded that they agree with this:
Pam Wolf
Kari Williams
Dorothy McCabe
Chantal Huinink
These councillors left it blank:
Colleen James
Jim Erb
We hope to see elected councillors uphold their public commitments made during the election.
Today is the day to vote!
If you're young and voting for the first time, have fun!
If this isn't your first vote then try to encourage others to get out and participate!

Your vote matters!
Today #WRvotes for municipal representatives. The lead up to this day has been contentious— racist, transphobic, anti-Indigenous & harmful to the most vulnerable. This election will either propel this region into a safe, equitable & sustainable future or further anchor hate 1/

If you need a refresher about where your candidates stand on issues that are important to you, you can see their survey responses through the link in our bio. We also included a great voting guide from @m2bowman at that link!
Our policy and survey question on sanctioning encampments came directly from Unsheltered Campaign's work! This is a great opportunity for candidates and voters to learn more about homelessness and how our region can do better.

@JamesHoweWR @m2bowman Hi James! We're a pretty small group but have connected with a lot of other grassroots orgs to use their expertise on issues. We have a Slack channel that anyone is free to join and participate in. (DM for link) We aim for consensus based decisions through discussion and debate!
So far, over 90% of survey respondents are non-incumbents! We are really excited to be able to amplify new voices in the election.
Thank you also to @JenVasic2022@JimErbWaterloo and @RoyceBodaly
as you are the only 3 incumbents (out of 19) that have filled out the survey so far
As elected officials, we hope to hold them to a higher standard and expect those with an incumbent advantage to still engage with the community. Below you will find the incumbents that have not responded. The deadline is Sept 24 and we hope everyone ends up filling out the survey

@m2bowman @FABWaterloo Thanks for posting. For those reviewing please please view long form answers at the bottom. For me I unpacked my “No” responses.
@beisan @DebChapman2022 The deadline for responses was September 24th. We'll be updating our thread on the incumbents who didn't fill out the survey sometime today.
@GroundUpWR @emilyskidsister Hi Jocelyn!
The responses to our survey will be posted shortly! In the mean time, you can look at our vision for the region at the link in our bio. The survey we sent out to candidates was based on the policies in that document.
Today is National Truth and Reconciliation Day. Here is some information about what that means to us. (Info from @ theindigenousfoundation https://t.co/E8b1AEvJBa )
