Thanks @ConversationCA for proactive and ethical journalism. Each time we can take actions to help challenge the stigma surrounding #FASD and other #disabilities it is a great step forward. You are leading by example for other news outlets. #canpoli#socialjustice
@ConversationCA@FASDproject@CarlyMcMorris@CanFASD Wonderful, thanks so much for your engagement and for hearing the criticism! I just wanted to note that the embedded image is still the same (i.e., if I try to post it on Facebook we still see the pregnant woman, or above on Twitter), though I do not know if that can be changed.
If a large number of people with a disability are involved in the justice system should we take action? Yes.
If those same people are experiencing forms of historic & ongoing systemic racism should action be taken? Yes. #TRCAction
Here's some ideas ...

There are at least 400,000 children and young adults up to the age of 24 with disabilities in Canada. Peers can play an important role in decreasing stigma, if we start early teaching and modeling inclusion.
@LostCadence@DrBradMcKay Agreed @Lostcadence - I ran my article in @ConversationCA the same day that @CarlyMcMorris & colleagues released theirs (interesting article!). I'll follow up the outlet to share this idea with them & their great editors! FYI: @CanFASD media resources: https://t.co/6LHfSO44wG
Thanks @DrBradMcKay for sharing the article.
SIDE NOTE: the image of a bare pregnant tummy & glass of wine is something we need to actively ask the media to dump in their stock shots for FASD articles. It is a dated image. One idea: we generate creative commons images to share!
