The FBI and our partners urge network defenders to read a new advisory on Chinese state-sponsored cyber actors, who continue to target networks across the globe, particularly in the telecommunications, transportation, lodging, and military infrastructure sectors.
Publicly known as Salt Typhoon, GhostEmperor, and other terms, these cyber actors target and modify routers to maintain long-term access to company networks. They exploit publicly known CVEs (common vulnerabilities and exposures) and other avoidable weaknesses in critical infrastructure.

The FBI is spreading awareness about a recent uptick in "swatting" reports—making a hoax call to 9-1-1 to draw a response from law enforcement, usually a SWAT team. Swatting is often done for revenge or as a prank, but make no mistake: it is a serious crime with potentially dangerous consequences for first responders and the victims of swatting.
We encourage members of the public to be vigilant and report anything they consider suspicious to local law enforcement and the FBI at 1-800-CALL-FBI.
