Today #WeRemember the 52 people who lost their lives during the 7/7 London bombings, 21 years ago.
The FBU send solidarity to all those affected by the 7/7 bombings including members of @RMTunion and @ASLEFunion.
Last week, hundreds of FBU members turned out to demand the fire authority reject Kent FRS's plans for dangerous frontline cuts.
Councillors postponed their decision till early August. The FBU will be back to make sure these proposals are abandoned.
🔥 Kent FBU members fight back and win🔥
Today Kent Fire Authority have postponed proposed cuts that would have seen -
• 5 fire stations closed
• 63 Firefighters lost
• 6 fire engines lost
Councillors today decided to postpone the proposed cuts for 6 weeks and look for alternative options.
Steve Wright, general Secretary said “ In 6 weeks we will be back, louder and bigger than today’s rally. We will not accept any cuts that compromises firefighter and community safety”.
This is what sticking together and standing strong does. This is a message to any FRS that seeks to make cuts to frontline services - the union will not standby and let that happen.
Responding to the announcement by the Prime Minister of his resignation, FBU general secretary, Steve Wright said:
"Whoever replaces Keir Starmer needs to be clear that the status quo has to change. The reason we find ourselves with yet another PM standing down is that, like May, Johnson, Truss and Sunak before him, Starmer failed to break with the perceived wisdom of attacking public services, failing to tackle wealth inequality, whilst letting privatised public utilities rip off the people of this country. A new Labour leader needs to learn that lesson and learn it fast.
"For FBU members, this means stepping in to end the threat of fire station closures that puts our members and the public's lives at risk. There needs to be investment in the fire and rescue service alongside other public services, and as an affiliated trade union, we will be putting that position before any candidate in a leadership election.
"We cannot have more of the same. If we do, then whoever is elected will inevitably have failed in their role and will be out of office at the earliest opportunity.
"The chance to break with the narrative of the past is now, learn the lessons that previous Prime Ministers failed to do and deliver a better future for our members and the people of this country."

Firefighters and the public are being put at risk.
Austerity has gutted Scotland's fire service, and it's the same story across the UK. Whoever leads next must commit to more firefighters on the front line and real investment in public services.

Firefighters Jennie Logan, 30, and Martyn Sadler, 38, tragically lost their lives in a fire at the Bicester Motion site one year ago today. Both were FBU members based at Bicester fire station in Oxfordshire.
Our thoughts are with the families and friends of Jennie and Martyn today. #WeRemember
The General Secretary was live on Channel 4 News tonight, speaking about what we need from a Labour leader - proper funding for the fire and rescue service and a Labour government that truly represents workers, including firefighters.
As an affiliated union, we have a voice, we have a say, and we will continue making the case for policies that benefit working people and the communities we serve.
Solidarity with everyone who took part in the minute's silence for Firefighters Memorial Day.
We will never forget the bravery and sacrifice of over 2,300 firefighters who have died in the line of duty.

@MattRodda is absolutely right.
The cuts proposed in Oxfordshire, defeated by @fbunational members would have had serious knock-on effects for neighbouring services.
Fire services need investment now.
Our members will fight any cut, anywhere.
Dorset and Wiltshire FRS is planning to close eight on-call fire stations, and axe at least 96 firefighter posts.
FBU officials and members attended parliament yesterday to call on politicians to put an end to these dangerous cuts.
These cuts will put lives at risk. #CutsKill
Today marks a significant step forward.
Health Secretary Wes Streeting has committed to introducing proper, consistent health monitoring for firefighters, including cancer screening.
As Firefighters we face serious risks to protect the public, yet too many become ill because of the job. Regular health checks and early cancer screening can genuinely save lives.
This is an important step and will save lives.
