🔥 The FBU welcomes the SNP’s commitment to expand the role of firefighters. Our members have long led the case for a properly funded expansion of duties, and this is an important step in the right direction.
A new deal for firefighters has the potential to be transformative — strengthening emergency response and working with partners such as the Scottish Ambulance Service and the NHS.
However, the FBU are clear that this must be backed by real investment.
Expanding the role of firefighters cannot be done on the cheap. It requires increased staffing, properly resourced services, and a clear commitment to halt station closures and ensure facilities are fit for purpose.
The FBU will continue to press all parties to match ambition with funding. Protecting Scotland’s firefighters means protecting Scotland’s communities🔥🚒 @fbunational@FBUScotNorth@FbuEast@WestScotlandFBU@FBU_Scotland_EC@AngusSproul@UnityConsults@fire_scot@scotgov@JMcKScotRegSec@JohnSwinney
