@OvieO@paulg@paulg, this here is very important! Your understanding and use of the English language is probably heavily coloured by your own personal experience with the language which is by no means representative of the entire global population that speaks it.
@LibertyJamison@naval He's right. It is a problem of power, scale & complexity. People who want to "save the world" focus on one narrow metric with no full understanding of the parts and the interactions between all the parts that make up the system. This is how man-made systemic problems are created.
@TanyaTheWayward@DGreatBundee@AfricaFactsZone You'll be shocked that representatives of the Spanish government in Ghana, an English-speaking country, speak, read and write English or, at the minimum, employ translators.
@CH_KEKA Hahaha... Just earlier this week, I looked up something in it. I had to remove the paper jacket of the hard cover and keep it in a safe place cos it's getting old and fragile. The hard cover is intact though.
@I_are@nntaleb A more fundamental point would be that the person/institution making the claim should provide the proof. Those trying to convince us that GMOs are okay should conduct extensive and open studies to prove the claim.
Otherwise, extreme caution is the rational strategy.
@climecheck the goal grows beyond creating an efficient climate data computing system. It strongly involves educating the community on the many ways harnessing climate data can be to the average African SME. We have an article on this, but here are the talking points.[THREAD ๐งต]
@CH_KEKA I'm surprised that they didn't mention climate. I mean, suggesting to 2 - 3 showers per week to someone who lives in the tropics sounds strange to me.
@ussy11 Have you heard of Morphic Resonance? If you haven't, listen to this episode of The Joe Rogan Experience where @joerogan hosted @RupertSheldrake.
