After winning the Democratic Party primaries for New York City's Mayorial elections last night, Zohran Kwame Mamdani, a Ugandan, and naturalized American citizen, son of Prof Mahmood Mamdani and Mira Nair of the 'Queen of Katwe' fame, Uganda cannot miss out on the spotlight.
With his promise to make New York City work for ordinary working class New Yorkers, making public transport free and fast, freezing rents for rent stabilized tenants, affordable child care for working women, Zohran's politics of the future will certainly take him places.
