being autistic is just;
me: hello how do I do this Thing
everybody: that Thing is common sense! :)
me: okay I did the Thing
everybody: WHY DID YOU DO IT LIKE THAT
and it’s been like that for 25 years
my number one problem with localisation is that it changes things to match americans when most english speakers are not american. majority of english speakers don't use american units of measurement or american currency so like. i'm reading a korean/japanese story but not really
@RegulusNSFW@Orangejuice9111 So cool, I just finished the first game after you impressed me with starbreed and I was so disappointed for not having any voice acting.
And also as someone who is really bad at rhythm games, please don't make it harder than the first one. I have no idea how I did Yu-Mei
@KayanoneSan The problem with oversees readers is that there's a lot of people who will say things like "you didn't read it unless you read it in japanese" and similar things. Like excuse me for not knowing the hardest language on the planet as my 3rd language already 😅
Anime has already been mainstream in the past. We've been through this cycle before.
It's not the mainstreaming of anime that's the problem, it's the environment in which it's been mainstreamed into.
The last time anime blew up we did not have this culture of ubiquitous clout chasers trying to manufacture fame using moral policing call-outs driven by maladjusted teenagers.
The last teenagers who made anime blow up actively wanted more sex and violence, and thought internet "fame" was gay.
I love how Joey says this shit while at the same time not realizing that he is a part of the problem.
His two other friends he does his podcast with have been living in Japan for 7 years and still act like complete tourists with almost no knowledge of the language or culture they have been a benefactor of.
Connor and Garnt are the worst offenders of entering a space, show very little respect for the people who are already there and then saying that changes have to be made.
Connor does nothing but complain about Japan and Garnt has spent the past few years trying to make anime a multi-cultural industry instead of something that is a product of Japanese culture.
@MizusPuddle Steam takes a standard 30% cut? They're greedy abusing their monopoly status to bleed developers.
They lower it? They're abusing their monopoly status to kill the competition.
There's literally no winning at this point. No matter what they do, the optics are the same.
Gaben has done more to protect and embolden gaming then every single indie dev in existence and I will die on that hill.
He's not just a dude pocketing money, he is literally the last guardian of the industry.
