I just learned about the death of Jim Ledbetter. Jim was my editor at Fortune magazine. He was a fine editor, alternately demanding and encouraging in the same sentence. More importantly, however, he was an incredibly warm, funny and caring man. His death is a true loss.

Observation: No US official or politician experiences significant public friction supporting Israeli military action against Arabs.

At least in part, that's because there are ~about 7.5mm US Jews and 3.2mm of Arab heritage. I wonder if larger Arab demo numbers change that?
