Police personnel earn a respectable salary every month, yet some still risk their careers over petty misconduct.
Take the recent case from Ghatampur, Kanpur. Constable Suresh Kumar, who was posted on PRV 112, allegedly had a habit of eating golgappas, kulfi, and other snacks from street vendors without paying. Whenever vendors demanded payment, he would reportedly abuse and intimidate them using his position.
The matter came to light when someone recorded a video of his behavior and uploaded it on social media. As the video went viral, it caught the attention of senior authorities.
A preliminary inquiry found the allegations to be true. Acting swiftly, the department suspended Constable Suresh Kumar, and a detailed departmental investigation is now underway.
It's astonishing to think that in an attempt to avoid paying just ₹20–30 for food, he ended up jeopardizing a government job that paid around ₹50,000 per month. Sometimes, the cost of a small act of dishonesty turns out to be far greater than anyone imagines.
