“This is a clear public health crisis; I don’t know why it’s subject to political interference at all,” says @JessSpieker. What point in having experts, she wonders, and training engineers on #RoadSafety, if we ignore best practices and allow people to die?https://t.co/cFW5N04rCZ
These lobbyists know less about the law than their constituents. Very on brand of them to defend violent behaviour of officers. We saw this in Devon Fowlin’s case, Hasani Ogilvie’s case, Defonte Miller, etc. They benefit from upholding the violent system of policing that presently exists. Their comments mean very little to us 1/2
“Margie was dearly loved, and she is never forgotten. She should still be here. Her death must not be in vain,” Read more about @FFSafeStreets efforts to memorialize pedestrians killed on Toronto's streets: https://t.co/OI6fiHdyBz
Bill 98, Ford's backdoor upload of the TTC, just passed in the legislature 61-31.
This is a dark day for transit. We expect fares to go up, routes to be changed and consultations with riders to cease.
Speeds on Parkside Drive in the city’s west end have increased more than 200 per cent since the province banned the use of speed cameras, according to data from the City of Toronto. https://t.co/2gOIORTduQ
There is a direct causal link between the removal of speed cameras on Parkside Drive and a 235% increase in speeding. This isn't neutral: people have lost their lives on Parkside.
@fordnation's meddling in municipal affairs is literally putting lives at risk.
The pain and grief of #RoadViolence never goes away. 13 years later, Marr's family thinks of her every day. She should have been able to live out her golden years with her family. Marr Horsey is never forgotten, and her family is not alone.
If you are struggling and hurting in the aftermath of road violence, you are not alone. You are warmly welcome to join us Sunday for our monthly peer support meeting. If you'd like to join on Zoom, please DM us for the link.

“If a #PedestrianMemorialTO existed at every location a reckless driver killed someone on streets designed for speed instead of safety, the scale of this massive ongoing public health crisis would be apparent to the public.”

Thank you immensely to everyone who joined us for the installation of the #PedestrianMemorialTO for Marr Horsey. Marr was a dearly loved mother, grandmother and aunt. She was robbed of her golden years with her family.

Toronto & other municipalities quickly switch from Winter to Construction with all the usual lackluster safety precautions for Vulnerable Road Users. Why the City doesn't yet have a mobility squad to ensure safety at road closures & constructions sites is beyond us 1/2
