My time in the Fort Henry Guard was so memorable because of the people - we shared a camaraderie like no other. Tonight’s Christmas gathering in Kingston at the Toucan was just like old times. Thanks to all those who came out & to the @FHGCC80 for a fantastic event!
What a great turnout last night at The Toucan! Great to celebrate the season with so many current and former Guard. Let’s do it again soon - and maybe spread the cheer to Toronto, Ottawa and beyond!
“The Commitment to Excellence Award is a loud message that former Guard care about us. People who have marched the same sequences, fired the same rifles, & worn the same uniforms understand how much work we put in throughout the season.” Guiding Serjeant Phoebe Schneider
Phoebe is one of dozens of returning staff who have received the Fort Henry Guard Foundation’s Commitment to Excellence Award. Over the past three seasons, the Foundation has provided $60,000 to support these young leaders, thanks to the generosity of many former Guard.
The Tragically Hip have long been a Guard favourite - Gord Sinclair (FHG 1186) joined the Guard in 1982, and they performed @FortHenry in 1991 and 1999. Look forward to watching the new documentary, which just premiered at TIFF.
