Maps twist our perception of the world
Here are 20 to rethink it:
1. Countries closer to the equator (~poorer) seem smaller than they are

I have just meet a frightened and anxious young #Ukrainian girl on a flight from Geneva to Cork. On Friday she left her family in a subway bunker in #Kyiv to seek the refuge of her Irish friends. Well done @simoncoveney for lifting visa restrictions and offering hope.
The quest to bring @americascup to #Cork must continue. The economic benefits to the region come at a critical time in the recovery of hospitality, logistics and ancillary services post Covid.
Minister Catherine Martin TD: Bring the America's Cup to Cork - Please sign here to show your support - Sign the Petition! https://t.co/QIeOgGDaDi #Cork#AmericasCup@EoinBearla
@rocklobster1897@EoinBearla This is investing money to get a return. Put €150m in to get €500m+ out, plus generations of infrastructure benefit for Cork. Not taking this opportunity is like literally turning down a €350m gift to our country. SF, Valencia and Bermuda were $$$ successes. We can be too.
Told you it wasn't over yet.
We're still in the running for the 2024 America's Cup. Just.
The ball is back in the government's court. #Cork https://t.co/cdzm7ums4S
@claire_tigher The people of Ealing would be lucky to have you as their councilor! Wishing you every success today! @AlanGleeson as a local resident get to vote out! @IIBN
@MarcusSpillane@EoinBearla Let hope the mandarins in Dublin are listening! Passing on this opportunity to invest into Ireland’s brand, tourism, hospitality, infrastructure and generate many €100m’s in revenue over many years would be an utter disgrace.
#americascup is greatest tourism and regeneration opportunities ever to be gifted to our island and somehow pencil pushers and begrudgers manage to mess it up. Shame on those who stopped this. #cork @MichealMartinTD @simoncoveney https://t.co/DqNJRYt6X6
