Mum of twin girls, married to my best friend, passionate primary school teacher (EYFS), bookworm, beach lover, obsessive baker, superhero fan and happy person.
There are educators right now buying things with their own money, skipping breaks (breaks?),replying to emails late at night & carrying the emotional weight of dozens of children daily…
…& still being told they “don’t do enough.”
Teachers deserve far more respect than they get.
@Infrared_44@MichaelRosenYes Well I’ve been working in education for more than 35 years and I spend time in schools regularly (as I said in my tweet) it’s the most challenging I’ve ever known it to be.
School leaders are fed up with the lack of respect, understanding & appreciation from DfE & Ofsted. I resent the extra pressure & its toll on me, colleagues & our wellbeing. We're working extremely hard in uncharted territory facing unprecedented challenges in a changed world. We deserve far better.
Leaving a toxic workplace is a weird feeling… like you’re relieved you’ve finally left, but also annoyed that a perfectly good job has been unnecessarily ruined by a few people creating a horrible work culture.
Giveaway!
I’m giving one lucky person the chance to pick one shelf of books from our Bertvent bookcase.
Follow and repost by midday on Saturday 27th and I’ll pick someone at random! Which shelf will you choose?
(UK only)
🚨👉Teachers…should NOT be:
1. Teaching kids to brush their teeth.
2. Teaching kids to use the toilet.
3. Teaching lads to respect girls.
That’s a parents job. If parents can’t be bothered, they should not have had kids. OWN IT!

Education is breaking - and it’s not because staff aren’t trying. It’s breaking despite the hard-working, dedicated people holding schools together in the most challenging circumstances. Funding simply hasn’t kept pace with reality and the cost is being paid by the very people keeping this creaking system afloat.
I know too many incredible colleagues who’ve become ill from the sheer impossibility of it all - people whose mental health is suffering and who are now considering their futures. I’m not going anywhere - I’ll keep battling on and trying new ways to make it work. But far too many good people are being pushed to the brink.
It’s not acceptable. And it’s not sustainable.
An annual reminder that not everyone loves Christmas. Grief, trauma & loneliness can make it an isolating time. Please don't brand people as miserable/grinches - you never know what they're battling. If this is you, please know you're not alone. You're stronger than you think ❤️
