@kidcobbler @IMcMillan I shared that on my FB woodland group as so many keep reminding me that the area used to be farmland before the Council planted trees.
@pjh_grumpy @IMcMillan @AnneQuinton So many groups (like ours) doing that. It brings to mind that adage “for want of a nail..” First a weed on a path, then a few more, then a bramble isn’t tackled soon the path becomes difficult so people find another route. Soon the path is lost.
@GreenheadCol spotted one of your students wearing a band tee shirt & got talking about the band. Conversation turned to her music production course & I suggested she lookout for @hcmfuk for inspiration. She was charming, engaged & articulate. A credit to you-I wish her success.
@BBCLookNorth Birkby Hudds I’ve had this update.”Thank you for sending in your reports of flytipping over the wall on Halifax Old Road into Grimescar Woods. This is a problem job, not one that can be quickly dealt with and we are awaiting senior management decisions on dealing with the issue.
@HuddExposed After losing fields up the top of the valley to new housing estates we are hoping to protect our little area by getting more people to use it. Part of that is not just highlighting nature but also the history e.g. why that bit of stream is orange.

@HuddsHub I’m currently volunteering at @hcmfuk - for something with a World wide reputation I don’t think the town shouts enough about it. Lots of events are free to attend, under 30’s can get £5 tickets. BBC recording many of the events for BBC 3 broadcast. Also art exhibitions and talks
It rained, and it rained, and it rained. It rained so hard that Christopher Robin stayed indoors most of the time, and thought about things. Every morning he went out with his umbrella and put a stick in the place where the water came up to. ~A.A.Milne #Stormciaran#rain#flood
When you stand and listen to the local stream rush by and forget it passes through the local park on the way to the river! Sadly much of it decided to stop in the park on the way.
Bit of local history for me. These #Roman tiles are from Slack Roman fort, #Huddersfield.
Stamped 'fourth Cohors Breucorum' (From the Balkans).
Slack was on the Chester to York road. They were possibly produced in the Roman tile kilns at Grimescar.

Went out for a walk with my wife then she fell into conversation with someone she’d never met before. Walks can be quiet and contemplative or sociable - just say Hi isn’t a wonderful day for a walk. @IMcMillan @SlowWaysUK@HuddsHub
