In August, FORWARD presented our findings on the state of FGM in the UK to the Home Office working group on FGM.

Ending FGM needs specialist organisations and affected communities at the table.

Government launches national taskforce to tackle misogyny

What we'll be watching: whether FGM and harmful practices are named, whether specialist organisations are at the table, and the VAWG announcements expected this week.

[FORWARD UK @FORWARDUK]

A National Taskforce for Tackling Misogyny has been launched, focusing on prevention.

Tackling VAWG, including FGM and other harmful practices, means reaching every community and centring specialist 'by and for' organisations.

This year @FORWARDUK we celebrate the 10th anniversary of our young women's leadership training with our 2026 cohort. Excited to be working with 18 young women & our partner @HomeGirlsUnite to build new feminist leaders. Truly grateful to @comicrelief & @TNLUK for their support.

[Naana Otoo-Oyortey @Naayosuwa]

I woke up with real positive energy from the @FORWARDUK Tuwezeshe leadership training. A fellow said "Am leaving this weekend feeling much more educated & aware of the issues facing women & girls. As well as feminism & so much to reflect on." Thanx to @HomeGirlsUnite & the team!

FORWARD was thrilled to join fellow members of the @faithandvawg at a parliamentary roundtable with @Jess4Lowestoft , Baroness Dr Sara Hyde & Dame @CommissionerDA to discuss the role of faith communities, a critical gap in the UK Government's #VAWG Strategy.
