As educators we stand for children. We stand for their potential, their dreams, their equality, and for helping provide to them hope in their life's success.
I can give you a litany of facts and research on why the family separation policy of @realDonaldTrump is inhumane, ineffective and unAmerican.
Or you can watch the video below where I highlight two stories.

When kids become older and are asked who their favorite teacher was, they should have a very hard time answering because every single teacher they had was fired up and a champion for them. @PrincipalKafele#JoyfulLeaders

I have to respond here. Baltimore, the place @realDonaldTrump says “no human being would want to live” is my home. It is the place that helped raise me, the place I still very proudly call home, the place where I’m raising my children. (Thread.)
Warning:
Teaching isn't as easy as it may appear to be on Twitter.
Relationships with kids aren't as easy to build as it might look on Twitter.

“We need to teach our children to read and to enjoy reading. We need libraries. We need books. We need literate citizens.” We could not agree more with @neilhimself and @chrisriddell50 that all children have the right to read for pleasure. #RightsToRead https://t.co/vwSKovQoWf
It is important to create a system where curriculum, standards, & testing are not intertwined w/ fed govt. Common Core created that link. AP CLASSES & STANDARDIZED TESTING were totally to the detriment of students under CCSS. This is good 1st step.
Common Core has failed teachers, parents, and our children. That’s why I am issuing an Executive Order to eliminate Common Core in Florida. We will streamline standardized testing, make civics a priority in schools and increase the literacy rate.
Ben Franklin's Birthday today 1706. THIS WISDOM FROM Ben remains true to this day. "Tell me and I will forget; teach me and I may remember; involve me and I will learn."
It was Albert Einstein that said "Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited, whereas imagination embraces the entire world, stimulating progress, giving birth to evolution." https://t.co/WRWHUOUUmG
Good job @NYGovCuomo. Books/words/communication are the foundation. They're still THE major influencers regardless of today's "tech"/emoji world. More so. W/o books, where & what would be OUR imagination, or the leaders in thinking/innovating/discovering..

@JanieHsieh I see you, like a "true" academic (#SarcasmAlert) mute/block people who disagree w/ your exploitive propaganda. That's good documentation of your lack of comprehensive teaching/learning skills.
But aren't you the brilliant one. I see you talk to YOURSELF mostly on twitter. A+++
Truth matters. Teaching our children to respect themselves, their community, and the world around them is an intrinsic human value.
Imagine and act according to the world you want for them.
