The Ukrainian Third Army Corps wrote on https://t.co/N70Y7dWijk that it had opened a new phase of the war by air-landing ground robots.

During Operation Vivaldi, kamikaze unmanned ground vehicles were air-deployed by heavy bomber drones of the Third Assault Brigade more than 10 kilometers into the enemy rear.

The unit said the robots’ own cameras recorded the operation and that Russian troops were hit where they did not expect it. The deep-strike tactic, it wrote, was created from scratch by fighters of the NC13 strike UGV unit and carried out with support from the brigade’s unmanned aviation systems. The corps also pointed to a full video of the operation on YouTube.

“Gryphon,” the statement said, was the callsign of NC13 machine gunner Hryhorii Bach, who went missing during the battles for Andriivka in 2023. The corps described the operation as revenge for him and for other fallen comrades.

It added that more infantry lives were saved this way, while enemy manpower and resources were destroyed — and that this was only the beginning of a new chapter started by the Third Army Corps.
