The US-Israel alliance is at a tipping point and the status quo is unsustainable for both the US and Israel.
The two-state solution has stalled for thirty years. The future requires a 23 state solution: merging Israel's need for security, the Palestinian people's desire for self-determination, and the Arab world’s desire for regional stability.
That is the path to an Israel that stands as an ally, not a dependent; an Israel with full diplomatic relations across the Arab world; an Israel that is no longer isolated, but central to the most important trade corridor on earth.
That is Israel’s future. That is the alliance’s future. And that is the foundation for a stable Middle East.
Prime Minister Netanyahu and his government have led Israel into a dead end.
For too long, the United States has confused being a strong ally with being a silent one. A blank check has come without expectations, accountability, or consequences.
That approach has allowed Prime Minister Netanyahu to ignore America's concerns over settlements, expand a regional war, and believe there would be no strategic cost. It has also allowed the denial of food and medical relief to innocent Palestinians in Gaza, fueling a perception around the world that Israel is indifferent to the suffering of civilians.
That is not good for Israel. It is not good for America. And it is not a path to peace.
The strongest alliances are built on honesty, shared values, and the willingness to tell each other hard truths. It's time for a fundamentally new approach to the U.S.-Israel relationship—one that advances Israel's security, Palestinian’s right to self-determination, and the Arab world’s desire for regional stability.
“Israel does not have a problem with the Democratic Party, israel has a problem in America” @RahmEmanuel speaking directly to Israelis, on @N12News tonight:
@RahmEmanuel’s candid, tough-love speech in Tel Aviv deserves attention from anyone who cares about the future of both Israelis and Palestinians.

Today, I spoke in Tel Aviv on the US-Israel relationship, where it stands, and the road ahead. Read my full prepared remarks here:

Tomorrow at 9:30am ET at Tel Aviv University, I'll lay out where I believe the US-Israel relationship must go from here. I didn't come to flatter anyone. I came because real friends tell each other hard truths — and tomorrow, I will. Stay tuned.
Whenever I visit Israel, consistent with my first visit with my mother, I make it a point to visit Yad Vashem and walk the Avenue of the Righteous Among the Nations.
It is a profound reminder of both the darkest depths of evil and the greatest heights of humanity that knows no boundaries. It honors people from all walks of life who risked everything to save the lives of others during the darkest chapter of human history.
It reminds us that evil exists, but so does extraordinary courage, compassion, and righteousness. There are those who choose humanity over hatred. Their example is one that we cannot and should never forget.
I was pleased to welcome @RahmEmanuel to the President’s Residence in Jerusalem today. I congratulated the American people once again on the 250th anniversary of the United States of America’s Independence. During our meeting, I underscored the importance of maintaining bipartisan support for the U.S.-Israel partnership, which greatly benefits both our nations.
One of the most inspiring examples of coexistence I saw in Israel was the partnership between Ichilov Hospital, Project Rozana and Al-Najah hospital, where Palestinian doctors are trained alongside Israeli colleagues to improve healthcare for everyone.
At @tasmc1, I met with Israeli and Arab doctors, nurses, and medical staff who work together, caring for every patient, no questions asked. Others have the luxury to debate whether coexistence is possible. The medical professionals at Ichilov Hospital do not debate it, they make it a practice of their profession.
Dr. @CochavElkayam is the human rights lawyer who spent the last few years documenting the sexual violence committed against women and children on Oct 7th. Amy and I were proud to help sponsor this essential work 3 years ago and ensure it received an international hearing, including before the UN. While in Tel Aviv, I was honored to meet with Dr. Cochav Elkayam-Levy, the researchers, lawyers, and victims who helped document these horrific crimes. Their work @theCC07 ensured that the world could never look away.
Nothing better captures the corruption and cruelty of Trump’s presidency. He made billions from crypto enriching himself while everyday American investors lost billions. On the same day, he flies on a Qatari $400m gifted jet. It’s come to define his idea of foreign aid, where everyone gives him money directly rather than making American richer, wealthier, and stronger as a nation. According to Trump, public service is all about acquiring personal wealth. Happy 250 years America!

On the eve of America's 250th birthday, I was honored to visit the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library and have a conversation with his great-great-grandson @RooseveltTed on what this day means.
250 years ago, a group of imperfect people did something extraordinary. They declared that liberty belonged to the people, not a king, and that America's future would always be determined by its citizens. The American story is still being written. Every generation has had to defend, strengthen, and extend the American promise.
The story of America isn't that we've always lived up to our ideals. It's that we've never stopped striving to. That's what makes this country exceptional.
As we celebrate 250 years of independence, let's remember that patriotism isn't about pretending America is perfect. It's about believing America is worth fighting for, worth improving, and worth passing on stronger than we found it. Our most successful presidents understood that and kept their eyes focused on the prize: America.
Grateful to be part of the grand opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library.
I’ve admired TR my whole life. He built the Navy and won the Nobel Peace Prize. He saw the Pacific would define America’s century before almost anyone else, something I came to appreciate firsthand as Ambassador to Japan.
But his greatest lesson wasn’t about power. It was about participation: the credit belongs to the man “in the arena, marred by dust and sweat and blood” — not the critic in the cheap seats.
That’s citizenship. Get in the arena.
Polls showing Democrats and independents are less proud of America aren't just highlighting our broken politics. It emphasizes our broken trust in our government and institutions.
After the Iraq War, the financial crisis, the loss of jobs to globalization, and COVID, too many Americans watched those at the top walk away while everyone else paid the price.
The answer isn't more cynicism. It's restoring the American Dream so every family can work towards achieving a middle-class life, believing their tomorrow can be better than today. That's how we rebuild pride in America.
I'm not interested in turning blue districts to cobalt blue. Let’s focus on flipping red districts to blue to get a Democratic majority and hold the most corrupt administration in American history accountable.
While Americans are paying $4 a gallon and struggling to reach the middle class, Donald Trump has made more than $1.4 billion from crypto and meme coins, and $400 million from the Qatari plane, using public office for private gain.
We need an administration that works for the American people, not for themselves.
As we pause to celebrate our founding ideals: freedom, liberty, government of and by the people, the Trump family's corruption and self-dealing never rests — now passed from one generation to the next. We declared independence from a king 250 years ago for less than this, and it's going to take a post-Trump renewal to make a decent middle-class life possible again for everyone beyond the President’s and Commerce Secretary's kids.

Adults should be raising our adolescents, not algorithms. In America, we are standing idly by on the sidelines while other countries are acting to protect their kids from the hazards of social media. Australia has done it and is improving on it. Spain, France, Germany are doing it. The UK and Canada are also looking to implement it. It’s time we act and ban social media for kids under the age of 16.

When your back is against the wall and you’re struggling to pay the rent, pay your healthcare bills, or save for retirement, you expect the Democratic Party to show up for you.
