Somali Fraud is Part of the reason Kenya’s Economy has been collapsing slowly.

Legit businesses collapse/stagnate when money-laundering operations infiltrate the economy.

For instance,

Njoroge runs a hotel business to earn a living from it.

Abdul runs a hotel business to "clean" Dollars from Minnesota.

Abdi will lower prices and offer bigger portions of food, because he’s not after Profits, but cleaning Money.

Njoroge, who’s selling at Market Price can’t compete, and he’s eventually pushed out of business.

2 years down, Abdi is done "cleaning" his money, shuts down & hands over the hotel to Abdul, to clean more money.

2 years down, Njoroge went broke, he has no money to restart. The Economy is dead, and only Abdi & Abdul have money.

This phenomenon applies in every sector of business.

I hope Trump actually does something to end this fraud.

On consultants vs employees, in Wambugu v Foresight Ventures Limited [2024] KEELRC 2515 (KLR), the Claimant argued that, despite being referred to as a consultant, he was, in fact, an employee of the Respondent.

The Respondent, however, maintained that the relationship was purely contractual, governed by a consultancy agreement and that no employment relationship existed.

The court, upon review, noted that the Claimant held the crucial role of Acting Managing Director, placing him at the core of the Respondent's principal operations. Given the significance of this role, it could not reasonably be classified as peripheral.

The court ultimately determined that the relationship between the parties was one of employer and employee. It emphasized that the designation of the agreement as a consultancy contract did not negate the substantive nature of the employment relationship.
